Pretty sure that area has had a fence for the past 2 months.

Fences have been up but a lot of debris around the perimeter has been removed and there are now big holes in the existing brick structure. Maybe I can snag a pic. I don't recall if they are demoing the whole thing or if they're able to adapt and build on the existing parking structure?

It is all coming down. There will be a brand new parking garage with apartments above it. However, the skywalk from the garage on Douglas will remain.nebport5 wrote: Mon Feb 03, 2025 10:30 amFences have been up but a lot of debris around the perimeter has been removed and there are now big holes in the existing brick structure. Given the height that makes sense. I had forgot too it wasn't originally built as a garage.bldgengineer2015 wrote: Mon Feb 03, 2025 10:39 amIt is all coming down. Bye Parkfair Mall! I used to work at the Runza in the food court. Back in the 90s when the mall was struggling and stores were leaving. There was a good lunch crowd daily, I remember.

That old skywalk needs to go. I don’t think it’s even been used in years.

I believe the current plan is to remove the skywalk that runs over 16th street. The skywalk across Douglas is to remain.Stvbec74 wrote: Thu Feb 13, 2025 5:02 pm That old skywalk needs to go. I don’t think it’s even been used in years.

This rendering gives you a pretty good idea of the density this will create on 16th street. Love it. DTO is getting more dense.

Sorry I missed this, but will there be retail along 16th Street with this 10 story structure?

I don’t believe retail is planned. Not every development needs ground floor retail. So many times those bays just sit empty anyhow.

The Duo, developed by NuStyle Development, will also have commercial space on both 15th and 16th streets.

Nice photos! I’m always stunned how quickly some of these structures which contain quite a bit of concrete and bricks come down.

First 120 apartments in the south tower will be available starting in May, more to come in the fall. This is moving fast!

They really have done a nice job getting this completed. Hopefully the garage and apts on the west side will be completed quickly too, although I think that is the final phase of the project (I think the north tower is next)

Yeah that is really impressive to deliver 120 units a little over a year after the announcement.Garrett wrote: Tue Mar 18, 2025 7:43 am First 120 apartments in the south tower will be available starting in May, more to come in the fall. This is moving fast!

Maybe a little too fast. I know that many people will have concerns about not having the option of a garage yet, and construction of many of the amenities that will reside in the the other tower...iamjacobm wrote: Tue Mar 18, 2025 6:16 pmYeah that is really impressive to deliver 120 units a little over a year after the announcement.Garrett wrote: Tue Mar 18, 2025 7:43 am First 120 apartments in the south tower will be available starting in May, more to come in the fall. Love the pool. Not a huge fan of the parking structure part but much better than the 2 story park fair mall.

Would anyone happen to know if the attached skywalk over 16th has been demolished along with the former mall?

Cool pics. Thanks for sharing!2Adam29 wrote: Tue Apr 01, 2025 8:17 pm I took a look at one of the units opening in mid May on the 13th floor.
Got some interesting angles on what the views will be from aspects of the building. Leasing agent indicated a local coffee shop popular in midtown might be locating in the ground floor later. Didn't say what one

Parking garages everywhere. Hopefully that new building is clad with something pleasant.2Adam29 wrote: Tue Apr 01, 2025 8:17 pm I took a look at one of the units opening in mid May on the 13th floor.

I'm assuming you're referring to the new Mutual of Omaha tower - the parking garage for that building will be covered by glass so it'll look nothing like it currently does.BuildTaller wrote: Thu Apr 03, 2025 2:02 pmParking garages everywhere. Well at least on the east and south facing sides. As Brad has mentioned, it does appear to change in this rendering on the west side.

The Mutual and Duo garages get a pass because they’re not structures solely dedicated to parking. Duo get bonus points for ground-level retail.Dundeemaha wrote: Fri Apr 04, 2025 6:28 pmstormchaser wrote: Thu Apr 03, 2025 3:10 pmI'm assuming you're referring to the new Mutual of Omaha tower - the parking garage for that building will be covered by glass so it'll look nothing like it currently does.BuildTaller wrote: Thu Apr 03, 2025 2:02 pmParking garages everywhere.
