This is one of the more mismanaged projects. I would like to hear the city's retro on this one.

This is not in the Omaha City limits. I'm assuming its being built to city standards, its not a city project.

Also, it looks like they need a bridge or a culvert down at the bottom of the hill, so that could be while they closed it completely and didn't keep one lane open during construction.

That could be true - they also had to do that near our home on 180th & Giles when they built a bridge over the BNSF/Amtrak rail line. However, even with that project, I feel it was done in less time.

I just find it odd that given the resources at their disposal (be it county, state, city, federal, etc) I feel they haven't been full speed ahead on this at all.

To add to this, this is a Douglas County project.

There is a culvert that they were working on until just recently, but it looks like that is done now and they've been laying dirt and grading the whole westbound lanes stretch.

Seems like they are getting ready to pour the road soon although there's no sign of the slipform paver yet. But I would guess they'll do it sometime this month, which makes me surprised they recently pushed out the completion to September. But I guess they also have the median/turn lanes and it looks like the north side might need a retaining wall.

Like I said in a previous post, I think the utility work is what really delayed this and the recent news release hints at that. There's been long periods of little to nothing being done. While there were frequent periods of rain last year that it looked like caused the ground to be too wet to where they had to wait for it to dry out, a big thing I noticed is that there were utility poles blocking work on the westbound lanes. There was even one pole in the middle of the eastbound lanes that prevented them from completing a small stretch that they eventually did some kind of temporary relocation before the end of last year so they could complete it.

They didn't even start putting up the replacement poles on the south side of the street until early December and the old ones on the north side were finally removed towards the middle of February. Once that was done, work really started to pick up. So my guess is these utility pole relocations were supposed to happen much earlier and was for some reason pushed back.

At work, I would consider this a fill-in project. Only work on it when all other projects are up to speed.

It looks like they've been starting to put down a base layer and I think I see the slipform paver at the east end. They just may start pouring the westbound lanes this week.

Not over there a lot, but unless I am mistaken, this is not 100% closed. That is where the Q Street wins the award.

The other day it looked like it is mostly paved but still needed a lot of dirt moved or a decent sized retaining wall on the north side.

At their pace, we "might" see it open by Thanksgiving.

A bit off topic but 48th St between Q St. and Harrison St. has been closed going on 2 years now. Not near as much traffic on that street but still has been a pain the butt for a lot of people. Hopefully both of these projects will wrap up soon.

It looks like it. They’ve got signals up and are doing sidewalks.
