For Petes Sakes! If we go by you and Frost's B.S timetable older guys like me might be watching games from our graves before Scott Frost makes Nebraska great again. You can not be serious. Of course long before we get to that mythical 7th year Frost and his homer fans will be insisting he needs a 3 year contract extension. Now that is one heck of a salesman folks that can sell the sheeple a line of B.S like that. The guy can't coach but he sure can sell.

P.S- About that famous Nebraska "conditioning program" they are promising to get the team back to. I won't pull out the "S" word but lets just say I think its pretty safe to say there were a whole lot of magic dusts and danders being ingested by Nebraska players in the 70's, 80's and even 90's.
I can understand why some fringe Husker fans feel this way today about Frost. But it’s short-sighted to jump to your conclusions 21 games (and less than 2 seasons) into his tenure..

The Reality is- he received a 7 year contract..and the other reality is- he’ll have ALL 7 years to make the NU football program right again (or not). Deal with it...

50% Of a College Head Coach's job is to be a salesman, that's how they recruit.

Frost needs to 1. Realize he needs a defense since he no longer has Mackenzie Milton (although that McCaffrey kid could be interesting in the future) and he plays in a power 5 conference full of decent to excellent teams. and 2. Needs to remember what made Nebraska so powerful was the fact they beat their opponents up...they played strong, rather than this PAC 10/12/14 "gotta go fast" offense that doesn't quite work in the Big 10. The talk of parity in strength and conditioning and geographic issues are just a crutch being used...look at Wisconsin, they were built off the Nebraska model and are still relevant. That should give Nebraska fans a glimmer of hope. Who knows if Frost will mature enough to realize this though, I would have thought Osborne might help in that regard?
I completely agree Martin.. except for one thing-

Offensively, Frost still needs another couple recruiting classes to obtain the type of pressure players that’ll make his offensive scheme work. I still think it’s a scheme that can be effective in the Big 10 with the right players and a few tweaks...

Memo to Scott Frost: Unlike your Cornhuskers, UCF players are cold-blooded | Commentary

Let us send a brief memo today from sun-filled, fun-filled Orlando to Nebraska coach Scott Frost, whose frail, soft, shivering, cold-intolerant Cornhuskers apparently have this annoying habit of bundling up in their warm, snuggly fleece jammies before they go out onto the field for pregame warm-ups:
Dear Frosty, just thought you should know that many members of your old team — the UCF Knights — took the field shirtless for pregame warm-ups on a nippy night in Philly Saturday.” ...

The problem is Frost, like FSU’s Willie Taggart, is coaching at a program where many fans still are living in the past. These are not Bobby Bowden’s swashbuckling Seminoles anymore or Tom Osborne’s dominant, dynastic Cornhuskers. The reality is that Frost and Taggart, both of whom have been on the job for just 1½ seasons, inherited programs in varying states of disrepair.

https://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/ ... story.html
From the article-

“Of course, in today’s Instagram world, the message-board maniacs and Twitterverse trolls that are an unfortunate part of every fan base don’t have the patience to let a new coach implement his system and recruit to that system. Even a coach like Frost, who grew up a football hero in Nebraska and quarterbacked the Cornhuskers to a national championship during the program’s heyday, isn’t immune to the noxious negativity created by the lunatic fringe.“..

Couldn’t have said it better myself...

You ever been to that Huskerboard? Those people are grade A. I love the Huskers and all, but those people take it WAY to seriously. "This isn't college football, this is your life!" type stuff.

Yeah this season is beyond disappointing, but I'm willing to give Scott Frost time. I cant believe how bad the media and fans are grilling the team right now. That's the part of the job I'd hate to deal with. Like all the time they spend answering all these negative questions couldnt be spent more constructively?

They just lost to Purdue and are every bit a bad team still. There were a lot of people who, after being beaten by lowly indiana, thought the Huskers had Purdue in the bag already. I thought the had chance, which they very well did. But in the bag? That type of mentality is what is causing the current meltdown among the diehard crazy fans.

This team stinks bad. These last two games were certainly telling. Being 6-3 is a whole different world than the reality of 4-5. It's hard to say this team will win another game.

P.S. I would have liked to see a change at QB yesterday. QB essentially lost them the winnable game.

Wow, Taggart's buyout is something along the lines of 18 Mil, and they raised enough from boosters to buy it out. That's just nuts how much money these fools have to screw around with.

Looks like Free Shoes U and USC are heading to a bidding war for Urban Meyer. This is going to be exciting.

The donors get access and influence. Priority seating. As long as donations for this |expletive| count the same as donations to the library, you are going to keep getting this because the AD doesn’t count university wide donations, just donations to the AD. One the quid pro quo gets deemed a thing of value by the IRS and the rich people who get a kick out of taking customers on a tunnel walk while writing off their donation no longer get the write off, it will dry up and these coaches will be harder to fire early.

All those years and years of reports about our football programs heavy use of the magic dusts and danders in Sports Illustrated, Omaha World Herald, Lincoln Journal and many other publications are false? The confessions of use by Nebraska Outland trophy winner Dean Steinkuhler were all lies?
I know for a fact they are not lies. Not because I read it in the paper or saw it on TV. I heard it straight from the horses mouths. I too had friends, neighbors, classmates and business associates who played for Nebraska and some of them came back afterwords and were on the staff. I'm not here to throw any of them under the bus or even judge them. In all honesty from what I have seen history has shown that the use of the dusts and danders has worked out quite well for some of the guys that used them. I am far from the first person to ever suggest that it might be tough to get back to Nebraska's good old days of being in unbelievable physical condition without the help of the dusts and danders.

Frost wants to master handing off to one back before he moves on to handing off to more then just one back. All joking aside is that pathetic or what the skill level of handing off the ball displayed by Nebraska quarterbacks? The hand offs are not smooth or done anywhere close to right. They make little or lame attempts to disguise their had offs. I mean whats up with that? Scott Frost never handed the ball off like that when he played. Scott Frost never needlessly jacked around before he took off running he just took off and was gone. It makes it significantly tougher when the hand offs are so obvious. Those qbs look like hacks. I digress.

I guess Minnesota will be playing in the Big Ten Championship game. Maybe it's too early to tell but that's what it looks like. If that happens, they are gonna get destroyed by Ohio State. Let's face it, Ohio State seems unstoppable this year.

Now that loss to Minnesota feels more correct. Back then I just assumed Minnesota was the usual Minnesota, but they now actually look like the type of team that should beat Nebraska 34-7.

So that being said, Nebraska should absolutely have 2 losses at this point. But should they have 5 losses? I don't think so. This team is 3 shot-in-the-foot-games from being 7-2 right now... If they could get out of their own way, they'd already be bowl eligible, and could afford to lose to Wisconsin and Iowa (like I think they will). But instead, they now have to beat Maryland and pull off a big upset just to get to a bowl. It really is disheartening to look back at those 3 games against Colorado, Indiana, and Purdue and how those should have been won early, if it weren't for that sickening play-to-lose thing they pulled in those 3 games.

Cowboy, you were very well correct when predicting the Huskers to be an 8-4 type team, but they let us down. They totally should have had an opportunity to go 8-4, but now they're staring at 4-8 or 5-7 at best. It will take a huge upset against Wisconsin or Iowa. We'll see.

Well, next year, Minnesota might very well be back to being "the usual Minnesota" as you put it and this season will be remembered as just a Cinderella run. I can't say for sure. But I can say that Minnesota is not a powerhouse on the rise. Not even close. They've got a long way to go before that even happens. IF it does.

They have a reasonable shot to be in playoff conversations going into championship Saturday, but I don't think anyone has a chance at Ohio State. I think Ohio State is strong enough to miss the title game and still make the playoff, with Minnesota having the potential to slide in as Big10 champs if they could beat whoever beats Ohio State (if it happens).

But that's highly unlikely. Ohio State's been on a roll this year. Look what they did to Maryland today. If it is Minnesota and Ohio State in the Big 10 Championship game, Ohio State will easily beat Minnesota.

Another enjoyable bye week. I never thought I would enjoy these so much. But misery will be here again next Saturday when Nebraska has a game against one of it’s toughest opponents since joining the Big10. Wisconsin 55 Nebraska 7. Both Minnesota and Illinois show us that it can be done. We are lucky we played Illinois when we did.

Well, thank you for saying that. This 2019 Husker team had the talent to go 8-4 like I predicted in August..but because there is a healthy number of players who are not buying in, along with Scott Frost and his staff simply getting out coached in several games, this team is sitting at 4-5, with 3 games left and on a 3 game losing streak..

The lunatic fringe of the Husker fan base will try and convince us that it’s Frost who’s the problem (21 games and less than 2 years into his tenure) which is absolutely ridiculous and short sighted. This coaching staff is having growing pains and lets face it, they’ve only been together as a lead staff for 4 years. I do believe Frost will get the job done here. But he’ll need the fair time to make it happen. Even Bo Pelini, who I NEVER thought should have been selected as the Nebraska head coach, got 7 years.. Frost deserves and will have his entire 7 year contract to turn this mess around. What he absolutely needs, is to have 2 more high quality recruiting classes to root out the player base from the previous coaching staff who don’t fit his player profile. I’ll expect his 2021 Husker team to be a highly competitive Big 10 West contender by then..and as a fan, I’ll completely have the patience to allow this to evolve (as frustrating as it currently is)..

As for the remainder of the 2019 season, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Huskers lose out and finish 4-8 again. I’d be pleasantly surprised to see them win 2 of their last 3 and finish 6-6. What I think will happen, is they’ll defeat an even more miserable Maryland team, lose to Wisconsin and Iowa and finish 5-7. Will the Huskers lose to Wisconsin 55-7 this year? I highly doubt next Saturday will be that lopsided (think 34-17 Badgers)..then actually fight with Iowa on Black Friday and lose a closely contested rivalry game just like last year. That Iowa game will be for NU bowl eligibility, so I expect NU to really put up a fight with the Hawkeyes before eventually losing. We’ll see..Wisconsin and Iowa are both offensively challenged, so the Huskers have at least a drunk punchers chance...

The only Wisconsin games I like to watch are the September 2012 game, which was unfortunately the only time Nebraska beat Wisconsin. And it was under a full moon, so that was a bonus. That and the 2016 game because it went into overtime.

That 2016 game was the only good one in my book. #7 Nebraska vs #11 Wisconsin and it was actually a great game, except the Huskers came up just short. They actually had a really good opportunity to win a game that really mattered. Yeah they won in 2012, but it wasn't a big deal. Every other game has been an absolute beatdown and 2015 was a letdown.

The overall offensive stats are surprisingly close, but the defensive stats are miles apart. Wisconsin's defense is statistically about twice as effective as Nebraska's. The Huskers' lack of a run offense and defense will hurt them and I get the strong feeling this will be yet another Wisconsin running back party.

PREDICTIONS-
Wisconsin will have gained on the ground well over a hundred yards against the dreaded Nebraska Blackshirts by halftime. Wisconsin will score at least 14 points by the end of the first quarter. Wisconsin will score at least 50 points maybe even 70! Its going to be a party for all and any of the Wisconsin running backs.

Except for a few disappointing seasons including this one. He’s done a great job at Michigan state, including several Big10 Championships. That’s not the easiest job with Michigan and Norte Dame so close. I wouldn’t rush to fire him just yet.

Wisconsin 55 NU 7
I’m just preparing for a blowout for this game, I do think Nebraska can beat Maryland and possibly even Iowa. But they seldom play well against Wisconsin. It’s just a fact. Look to finish 5-7. 6-6 is just a glimmer of hope right now.

My gut tells me something like this too.

Over/under 200 rush yards and 2.5 touchdowns for Jonathan Taylor... In the first half.

Over/under 225 total yards for Nebraska's offense.

Nebraska allows over/under 450 yards.

Over/under 2.5 Wisconsin punts.

Over/under 7 touchdowns Wisconsin.

Lol..

Do you guys think this is Ohio St coming into Lincoln?.. Yes. Wisconsin is the better team. Yes. Wisconsin is bigger, stronger and more physical than NU..

NO. Wisconsin is not bigger, stronger, more physical or more talented than Ohio St.. Wisconsin will defeat the Huskers. It’ll likely be a “satisfying” win for their fan base. But it won’t be 55-7, lol. As undisciplined and bad the NU defense has played, this Wisconsin team is offensively challenged..

Wisconsin- 34
Nebraska- 17...

Interesting article but still a lot of FAKE NEWS! Quite a load manure being spread about how Scott Frost restored toughness to Nebraska and now there are fights during practices like there was back in the good old days of the 90's  As if fighting is ever good or needed. And...... Are we all talking about the same tough Scott Frost....the one who never raised a finger and laid in bed as his girl friend laying besides him was yanked out of his bed by his running back and dragged down 3 flights of stairs before having her head bashed into the metal apt mailboxes by the front door?

A quick check of StubHub and Vividseats shows tickets as low as $17 for this Saturday's Wisconsin-Nebraska game.

That’s crazy low for this game.. But it shows that many fans expect an NU loss, combined with the 11am kickoff.. I think many fans would rather sell their tickets to this one..rather than subject themselves to another Husker Saturday AM kickoff loss..

Although I don’t think the final score of this game will be as lopsided as many think...

I wonder how many empty seats there will be at kickoff. I know I will be there and stay until the end.

$17 that’s incredibly cheap for Nebraska football. Tempting to drive down and catch the game in person. Even if it does turn into an expected blowout. Who knows maybe they will shock the world and win.
