I know that's an option, but I like to have an episode handy for road trips!

I got blocked by Winters' Food Lovers page because I had a problem with a restaurant that he was pushing as a 5-star establishment. I go to the uncensored group as they allow both positive and negative reviews of restaurants.

That dude is such a creeper. He actually follows OFL members around the internet. If they join other food groups, he blocks them.

And OFL doesn’t allow negative reviews. So it’s a useless page anyway.

I actually stopped listening to Grow Omaha because of their affiliation with that guy.

They should ask him why OFL doesn’t allow any negative reviews and, more importantly, about his disturbing behavior following members around online. There are literally hundreds (thousands?) of examples.

I am in and somewhat active in both groups and haven't had any issues with getting kicked out. I do know that if I am going to say anything negative that it's not welcome in Food Lovers. I only post negative comments in the Uncensored Group. That being said, in the Unsensored Group, things get a little over the top on negative posts. I am also suspicious that some of the negative posts are because of personal grudges. A good example is Burger Detour. Obviously, the owner (Chad McMahon who got arrested when he owned Good Life and made some awful choices) is controversial and I think many of the posts about it are because people don't like him. Have seen this happen with other places too. Also, many in that group will takes shots at chains, seemingly to try and help local places.

I will point out, its "Omaha Food Lovers" and not "Omaha Food Reviews", and he can run his page however he wants. With 108,000 members, apparently he is doing something right.

That said, if he is really banning people because they post in both groups, that's bush league.

He can totally do whatever he wants with his page. But that doesn’t make it “good.” What’s the use of a page that only allows good reviews?

Far more important though is that I and many, many others find it disturbing that he tracks the behavior of OFL members across other pages. He’s blocked untold people for no reason other than the fact that they posted [insert place he doesn’t like here]. (Stories of this abound.)

Tracking people like that does not strike me as normal behavior. It’s unsettling.

What is the psychology of a person sitting there with a list of names and digging around for their online activity?

Lots of people get tired of all the negativity. There are a million places on the internet to go complain about something you don't like. Why can't someone create a positive place were people can go support places they like? I have said it before, if people spent more time promoting and supporting places they link instead of complaining and tearing down places they don't like, we would all be better off.

Like I said, if he's doing that, its wrong.

It's not just a negative review. If your experience wasn't as "great" as othes post about, and you give reasons to back up your experience, then you get blocked. I see it as another person's perspective. How many people have tried these places expecting the OFL Facebook staff review and your experience is far from. A public group should be objective. OFL is highly subjective.

Mr. Mello dropping vague hints about potential announcements for the urban core, jobs and residential. I appreciated the insights he gave about foreign manufacturers. Really exciting stuff!

Yeah my main takeaways were that there are a lot of residential projects in the pipeline and that multiple international companies have started looking at the area for the first time, though that sounded more on the manufacturing side, he did mention possible headquarters

When he was talking about the urban core, he definitely mentioned working with possible new employers to locate downtown. I thought it was neat to hear how out-of-towners are asking him how Omaha has been able to activate the urban core, particularly during the work day, 10 AM-3 PM. He said most of the activity they are impressed with is around GLM. Neat to see effects of these investments being recognized.

There was talk about Bedford Ave on the break. I've always wondered when they are going to build a bridge over that creek and connect that area. It would really open things up. Also, extending the W Papio Trail further north through that area would be awesome.

I think there is still one lot that needs to be platted. The right of way for the last segment of Bedford Ave will be dedicated as part of that platting process. I'm guessing once the final piece of land is acquired and traffic counts are high enough, they will build it.

I'm not that familiar with FFP but she announced on her website back in may that she'd be a bi-regular contributor. Grow Omaha never said anything officially (to my knowledge) about her leaving but they referred to it in an off air conversation of an uncut episode.

Actually, I think her husband, Matt Hansen, is the editor. Perhaps that's why I though she was already working there.
