5th & Main - KC City Market

Post by strangerthings »

3 of the 4 Corners at 5th & Main have had development plans announced in the past 30 days. This is all within a block of the RM streetcar station.

South 2 corners:

KC Commercial Realty Group, Complete LLC, and EPC plan to build a six-story apartment community with about 190 market-rate units above 12,000 square feet of ground-floor retail, plus 372 spaces of structured parking.

EPC intends to move "full-speed ahead" through the city's predevelopment process; once approved, construction is expected to last roughly 20 months, McKeen said.

Northwest Corner:

KCMO owned parking lot that is being transferred to Port KC. Port KC received bids from 2 developers interested in the parcel. Flaherty Collins appears to be the clear winner. Flaherty did The Yards, Union at Berkley Riverfront, Heritage LIHTC, etc.

The first proposal is from Indianapolis-based Flaherty and Collins. They are proposing a 300-unit, 12-story apartment building on the site. The plan also includes 10,000sf of commercial space and a 400 space parking space parking garage (meeting the requirement of 160 spaces to replace lost public parking). The architect is KEM Studio.

Thank you for keeping us updated on KCMO development. I am a bit envious, well actually, a lot, but good for KC. They made the right moves and are reaping the benefits.

This looks really cool. Momentum on both sides of KC's downtown, River Market and Crossroads.

This project is now 13 floors. FAA has approved the height and Port KC gave incentive approval today. Hope to start construction in the fall.

City Harvest at the NW corner is finally pushing forward. Plans filed with the city and Port KC bond inducement on final approval docket. The taller version was approved by the FAA.
