College of Saint Mary announces a new president will take over in July
OMAHA, Neb. (FOX42KPTM) - An Omaha native has just been announced as the new president of the College of Saint Mary. Heather Smith will soon lead the college. She will take over July 1st as the eighth president of the college and will succeed Dr. Maryanne Stevens. Dr. Stevens is retiring after 27 years on the job. According to a news release, Smith has a Bachelor's degree in nursing from Creighton University and a Master's degree in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska-Omaha. The expectation is for Smith to build on a strong foundation of academic excellence. Smith wasn't the first choice for the job. In February, it was announced the original selection decided to stay at her current institution in Pennsylvania.
