I think it looks nice but are they going to be able to sustain it. So far, the only tenant is a doctor's office.

I'm a bit warry this is going to do well. It looks cool, but you can see at the end of the video that it's contained within a sea of parking and it's not convenient or easy to get to from the rest of campus or from Campustown. Outside of game days, I could see this being a dead space after the novelty wears off.

Looks nice, they certainly have a lot of room might as well use some of it. I've always liked the stadium it's aged fairly well.

I cringe at all that ugly asphalt parking lots surrounding the area, makes the nice walkable area into a tiny island, they took the inspiration from Kansas City alright.
It was also eyebrow raising how the interviewee commented how this project is meant to fund parking lots, as if that's the end goal of this project.

Leave it to you to hate on anything and everything. This is going in an area that is already all parking lots. Those lots are used a ton beyond tailgating ISU games, concerts, and Hilton events, so any progress is welcomed. Its the main commuter parking lot (and it fills up) for some of the Cy-ride routes. Which is a public transport option in Ames and is known for some of the best US public transport options in the US for a city of its size. Source - I went there and regularly go back. Your rhetoric is tired and boring try being happy about something. Go ahead and reply to me, I won't respond and honestly don't know why I bothered to respond to you in the first place.Renovator2559 wrote: Tue Sep 12, 2023 8:49 pm I cringe at all that ugly asphalt parking lots surrounding the area, makes the nice walkable area into a tiny island, they took the inspiration from Kansas City alright.![]()

What about the other commenters raising the same concerns before I did? Ames is doing many things that are good as a college town, they have a very walkable community and great transit, however as others mentioned, they do need to ensure this hub is better connected to the main campus, in order to be successful.
There are plenty of nice minimal sprawl cities that are doing well, while the sprawl dominant cities continue to stay in a cycle of debt, with disconnected walkable hubs, costly car infrastructure; which is detrimental to those cities truly becoming vibrant. Also, the overall stability of the city in question; is a major factor.

Yeah, but you respond to every single topic that isn't about Omaha like this. It's incessant.Renovator2559 wrote: Wed Sep 13, 2023 1:20 am What about the other commenters raising the same concerns before I did? Re: Cy Town - Ames, IA
The cities that have been referenced are sprawling cities in the South, that upon digging deeper, have many issues which are easy to gloss over. I also criticize the much smaller sprawling areas of West Omaha but praise the momentum of Omaha in strengthening the connectivity of the already connected walkable neighborhoods and sprinkling promising developments in WO, while at the same time remaining a stable city.
I have made several references to Des Moines and Lincoln.
Madison is another great city that does things right but is not mentioned.

I love Iowa state, but there is a less than 1% chance this thing works. Frankly it might be the reason they aren’t able to join a mega conference in a decade bc It’ll be that much of a financial strain.
Just my opinion. Nice idea.
