With the recent activity on the Standing Bear Trail thread, thought I would share this. I hike at Standing Bear 3-4 times per week.
This is a site the shows all the trails in and around KC. I will admit, I had no idea there were so many diverse trails down in KC. This site shows ones in and out of the city with great pics. Had no idea that he so many waterfalls down there. We now review this every time we go to KC and try a new one. Crazy amount of great trails/
Hidden gem is the Parkville Nature Sanctuary with a short hike along a creek to a waterfall.
They also do surrounding areas that are a day trip from KC. Recently did Hitchcock over in CB and Indian Cave State Park.
