I've encountered these before, most often on the Las Vegas Strip advertising escorts. Saw my first in Omaha this week, midtown/Medical also in Bellevue.
Thoughts? I'm a relentless capitalist but I also think they're an ecological nightmare and a waste of fuel. It would be one thing if these were regular city delivery vans--I've seen Nebraska Ethanol and the lottery wrapped on box trucks before. But the raison d'etre is to just drive around town empty.
Plus someone's going to cause a wreck by staring at the variable messaging.
Mobile advertising trucks? Anyone seen these?

I agree with it being dumb. Totally on board with wrapping a box truck or something in it, but when its just the digital billboard standing on the flatbed...yeah its dumb lol.damonhynes wrote: Thu Dec 21, 2023 3:46 pm I've encountered these before, most often on the Las Vegas Strip advertising escorts. You finally saw one? They have been around here for at least a couple years now. See them a lot along West Dodge.

Yep, I've been 'visiting' Clarkson, UNMC and Nebraska Med in Bellevue a lot more than I intended the past few months.Brad wrote: Thu Dec 21, 2023 4:17 pm You finally saw one? They have been around here for at least a couple years now. See them a lot along West Dodge.

I've seen them parked various places for a few years, but I am just starting to notice them driving around with their sign lit.Brad wrote: Thu Dec 21, 2023 4:17 pm You finally saw one? They have been around here for at least a couple years now. See them a lot along West Dodge.
I don't know how they outlaw neons and other lighting effects on cars because it's distracting to other drivers, but allow these.
I think they're an eyesore and I question their effectiveness. I mean, are you out and about and just so happen to need a plumber for something and one of these drives by with a plumber advertised on it and you jot down the number to call? Perhaps it's that cumulative effect of advertising. You see 1,000 things like this and then months later when you need a plumber a particular business name jumps out at you and you call it. You never realize the reason it "jumped out at you" is because you've been seeing ads for them here and there for the last year. I'm not an advertising/marketing guy. I just know they look like hell.
