"It's a really exciting day for Exploration Place," Smith said. "Today's the day we break ground on a series of developments here on our 20 acre riverfront property that will take about 18 months to complete."
He, along with several project partners, helped break ground for a new amphitheater along the Arkansas River next to the museum.
"The Keeper of the Plains is the most photographed location in the whole of Kansas," Smith said. "People come here, sometimes hundreds of people are here, at nighttime to see the lighting of the flames. And we saw the opportunity to create an amphitheater that could be a performance venue, and have really, really great music performance life, science shows, movie nights in this amazing location."
