Tropicana Hotel in Vegas closes

Once again Las Vegas turns its back on its history as it continues to reinvent itself as a Major League city.
My first and only “big” slot machine win was at the Tropicana. The last big nightclub style show we had tickets to was also at this resort, which only slightly predates me.
I’m sure that some of the hotel’s signage will find a new home at the fascinating Neon Museum near downtown. It’s definitely worth a visit if you are in town. Go at twilight to see the signs in their full neon glory.

I mean, this is nothing new. Vegas has been demolishing and replacing casinos for decades. It's just part of that very particular industry that the city has curated.

Agree, Vegas thinks nothing about knocking down old hotels. Some of them looked pretty cool, but they must go as Casino’s continue to expand ,evolve and change.

I don't see the Trop as one of the ones that will be missed. Would have loved to have seen the Sands kept.
