I've never heard of this. It sounds pretty exciting and it's free. I'll have to check it out.

It drew thousands down to the riverfront last summer (including my wife and I on two occasions... sorry, no pictures though)

These concerts are great, I stand on the peir at Gallup and listen to the echos and look at the hundreds of people having a good time.

...then I go back inside to my windowless room and resume the beatings.

Yeah, these concerts rule. You need to check them out DTO....I also used to work for Gallup many moons ago. Do the beatings go top down from Clifton himself

It alternates weekly between executives. We have a monthly drawing among the common folk to be an alternate beater.

Thanks for posting that!

Some incredible artists there. Sonny Landreth is world class, do doubt about it. Walter Trout is a particular favorite of mine. And if the Campbell Brothers can generate even a fraction of the energy that Robert Randolph and the Family Band can (and they claim they will), it will be a show you'll never forget. Heck, the entire bill is good - every single artist!

I missed all the shows last year, but I won't this year. I'm a huge blues fan, and I really appreciate that someone is willing to put up a large sum to make this happen.

I went to almost all of those shows last year and Walter Trout ruled! Anthony Gomez (sp?) was really good too. People need to realize what they got here. These guys are some of the best in their genre of music today and you can go see them for free. You can't beat that deal. I liked the series so much I actually sent an e-mail to the Omaha Blues Society thanking them for the shows. Who knows, maybe one day they'll start booking other genres down there and start kind of an Austin City Limits thing. That'd be totaly sweet.

One thing to note: The Friday night shows have moved to the parking log of Downtown Blues, and are called "Pre-parties". The Saturday night shows remain on the riverfront. Lineups have also changed a bit. Check out details at http://www.playingwithfireomaha.com/

Thanks for that clarification... I remember reading that in the paper, but forgot they were all originally planned for L&C.
