Waterfowl (odd ducks)

Post by Candleshoe »

While the sandhill cranes are getting most of the love and attention in central Nebraska, there are other creatures worth searching for in the area as well...

For example, at a local neighborhood lake park in Grand Island, this visitor from another continent seems to have lost his way and now visits Grand Island every Winter and Spring. This is the third year that I've watched and photographed him at the same lake. A mandarin drake.

My guess would be the Noth American Wood Duck, a close relative of the Manderain.
