Tecumseh is really doing better since the built the prison there. For like the first time in 30 years or so they had new housing development.

SE Nebraska w/o Nebraska City or Auburn?

Tecumsah sucks. My unlce works at that prison and from all of the horror stories I've heard about that prison I'd be surprised that it did cause any development. And since they're short 200 staff members it's not like people are moving there for jobs.

I just can't get to excited about little towns I've known all my life.

I really think Nebraska City and Plattsmouth are beautiful little towns. I love some of the architecture in the downtown areas.

Whenever I get old and cenile and I can't drive because they took my lisence for the 10th time, I'll probably move to Nebraska City. But by then it will be South Omaha.

Do you whip through these towns on a photo jaunt or take your time and walk around a little bit (maybe grab lunch, etc.)????

Thanks Finn. This time it was just to investigate the terrain - to see these historic districts. I do have a couple books - "Nebraska: Off the Beaten Path" and Day Trips in the Heartland that scope out restaurants and other specialty places to visit. There is nothing like a heartland meal. I have arrived at one that was already closed for breakfast or lunch and they would strike up the grill just for me. It is also interesting to see all the places that still wave at cars passing by. From Arthur to Arnold almost every person greeted with a one or two finger acknowledgement, the closer I get to larger cities that greeting disappears.

I saw on your website that you took a pic of the Whiskey Run Creek Vineyard & Winery. How was that? I have been to their site and it is pretty cool to see how they placed the old barn over the creek bed. I could not tell from your pic how well it was done and if there is any natural beauty left of the channel. Your thoughts.....

Very friendly guy was running the place - full of stories.
It was actually my favorite place in Brownville. Evrything else was sort of closed down. Whe you run into people like this you can see Nebraska at its best. I talked to the owner/builder of that Sod House in Gothenburg for about an hour. He made the city come alive with his stories.

Sorry - I should have taken more. Somehow my camera didn't follow me in. Coyote saw wine and then lost all sense of logic.
