Legal Sports Betting in Nebraska........Pete says NO!

Post by GrandpaaSmucker »

What a kill joy this guy is getting to be! Nebraska is going to give Pete Rickets a huge victory in the primary tomorrow and this guy is a regular certified dud.
He actually is going to make me drive to Council Bluffs to bet sports. That is the last straw with this guy. He needs to go. You couldn't pay me a hundred dollars to vote for Pete Rickets tomorrow.

I’ve never understood Nebraska’s perceived (at least to me) holier than thou stance against gambling..

I’m not a gambler at all. Don’t even hit up the casinos.. But I’d never begrudge anyone who does. To each their own in that regard. But once again, it appears Nebraska will be missing out...

I'm sorry, but it's hypocritical as you can get!

Nebraska has horse racing, and has as long as I've lived here. In recent decades Keno (is "keno" a common or proper noun?) is all the rage and all of the Powers That Be consider it to be clean and wholesome, even though it's just a slot machine on paper. Speaking of slot machines on paper, remember when Pickle Cards were all the rage? Then when someone proposes a real casino (as in stop the $$$ drain to Iowa) they get on this high horse about how it will increase crime and poverty, molest your children, and keep the country from winning the war.

Jeesh!

Gotta love our wholesome governor coming out against something that happens in this state anyway, and something that Iowa will jump on and get a head start on us but lets roll out the red carpet for the NRA which is literally the worst group in America and offer the state for their convention.

Remember kids, guns don't kill people, putting 20 on the Dolphins getting 6.5 at New England does.

Ricketts is a moron and his daddy bought him his governorship. Hes the laughing stock of US government. Watch political satire shows after hours and they rag on him more than anyone besides Trump.

I dont talk politics, and I dont gamble, though I used to, but Ill point out the obvious reason this should be legalized. The state of Nebraska, ran by the dollar store Lex Luthor, is taking money away from schools, which in turn will cripple our future, but lets keep gambling against the law inside of state lines, cuz that will keep people from gambling.

Half of the states population lives within a 20 minute drive of 3 casinos, and another 25% live within an hour of said casinos. These people will go to these casinos to gamble, and feed Iowa's budget all night long, instead of spending the money at a casino in Nebraska, where there would be valuable tax dollars, to put money into schools, and infrastructure, and the future. If you are against legalizing gaming in Nebraska, you are an idiot.

This is the single greatest descriptor of Pete Ricketts I have ever seen, and if I could attempt to hug you through my computer monitor, I would.

I'd be curious to see a stat on how much of the money spent in those three casinos comes from west of the river. I bet it's over 80%.

Im sure it is. Iowa is just raking in the profits because Nebraska is being old fashioned and ignorant.

Not Nebraska, but Iowa is awfully close.

https://www.omaha.com/news/politics/bil ... 6171f.html
A bill to legalize sports betting in Iowa is headed to the desk of Gov. Kim Reynolds after it passed the state’s House on Monday on a 67-31 vote.

It cleared the Senate last week by a vote of 31-18.

If Reynolds signs the measure, Iowans could legally place sports bets as soon as July 4. The measure allows betting on most sporting events and on fantasy sports through Iowa’s 19 state-regulated casinos. Three of them are just across the river from Omaha, in Council Bluffs.

When I heard yesterday that it had been officially legalized the grass was suddenly greener and the world was a better place. Lying cheating bookies were crying all over town. Good riddance dudes!

Prop DD Won. Here’s When And How You Can Place Your 1st Colorado Sports Bet

Colorado has joined 19 other states in jumping on the bandwagon after the U.S. Supreme Court threw out the near-nationwide ban on sports gambling in 2018.

Report shows Nebraskans wagered $7.3 million more on Keno

BELLEVUE, Neb. — Even with new competition, the state says Keno brought in millions more dollars in the last fiscal year. There was also an increase in tax revenue. Just days ago, the Nebraska Department of Revenue reported $357 million wagered on Keno in Nebraska between June 2022 and July 2023. That's $7.3 million more than in the 2022 fiscal year. Tax revenue increased by almost $150,000.
