Hopefully Omaha Scanner can become their own viable brand, and not just be a MeanStreets Omaha copycat.

Thread revival time. Omaha Police is reportedly going full encryption by the end of the month. I don't know about fire, or the county channels. They would give the four TV stations and "one newspaper" (wonder who that would be?) access to real time audio.

Sarpy encrypted dispatch channels at the beginning of the year, but left fire unencrypted, and hosts a feed of dispatch traffic on a 30 minute delay.

Naturally Omaha Scanner whose social media channels are likely monetized by traffic wanting breaking news aren't happy about this.

Omaha's going to have a 15 min delay:

I just saw that clarification on everyone getting a 15 minute delay feed.

I wonder if there will be unedited audio records kept and available via FOIA, or if a FOIA request will even be required.

I'd also be interested in the data justifying this decision beyond "we don't want the public to listen". Tactics and methods is BS because in swat or similar situations traffic is moved to encrypted channels anyway.

From my experience, they are way behind the curve in doing this. This is not a new thing for many cities, small or large.
For the record  NEBUGEATER does not equal BUGEATER    !!!!!!!
