If he continues on his current avg this year, he would have an outside chance to pass Doug McDermott for 5th all time.

Daum has 9 games left in the regular season, possibly 3 in the Summit Tournament, possibly 1 in the Dance.
If he averages 30 points in these 13 games, his career record would look like this:

1. 3667 Pete Maravich, LSU
2. 3249 Freeman Williams, Portland St.
3. 3217 Lionel Simmons, La Salle
4. 3165 Alphonso Ford, Mississippi Val.
5. 3160 Mike Daum, SDSU
6. 3150 Doug McDermott, Creighton
7. 3066 Harry Kelly, Texas Southern
8. 3058 Keydren Clark, Saint Peter’s
9. 3008 Hersey Hawkins, Bradley
10. 2973 Oscar Robertson, Cincinnati
11. 2951 Danny Manning, Kansas

He is currently averaging 24.5 pts/game, so on that pace, he would finish with probably around 3,064 assuming they play a few games in their conference tournament and one in the dance.

How high can Mike Daum climb on the NCAA all-time scoring list?

Currently an eight-man club, Daum is 197 points away from becoming the ninth member of the 3,000-point club, and if he keeps with his current pace (he leads the Summit League with 24.8 points per game this season) he’d be at almost exactly 3,000 points at the end of the regular season, which has eight games remaining. Of course, he’d still have the Summit League tournament and postseason to add to his total.

If the first-place Jacks were to win the conference tournament as expected, that would mean a minimum of 12 more games for Daum. He’d need to average only about 16 points per game to get to 3,000 by then, and if he were to average 25 points over those 12 games, it’d leave him with 3,103 points, which would be sixth all-time, just behind Doug McDermott.

Daum scored 28 points to move past Larry Bird into 15th place on the NCAA career scoring list (2,854), while also grabbing 12 rebounds to become SDSU’s all-time leader in that category with 1,133, surpassing Mark Tetzlaff. The Dauminator added three assists and two blocks for good measure, on a day when he hit 12-of-19 shots. It was his 15th consecutive double-double.

“He was one of the best players on the floor against a team that won five games against Top 25 teams this year, and after the game when a reporter made a comment to Texas coach Shaka Smart comparing Longhorns big man Dylan Osetkowski to NBA standout Kevin Love, Smart seemed confused for a moment before admitting, "I thought you were talking about Daum."

“He’s a heck of a player,” Smart said of the pride of Kimball, Neb. “There’s a reason he’s scored 3,000 points in his career.”
