News Channel Nebraska

Post by lonnie »

A new OTA (Over the Air) channel was added to my TiVo tuner: "News Channel Nebraska"

27.2 NCN

Also on Roku, fireTV and appleTV via the "NCN" App.

It appears to be a 24/7 news channel covering all of Nebraska. The studio seems to be out of Norfolk.

While not has "polished" as Omaha news, they appear to perform actual reporting, not just sit and read Twitter and Facebook for unconfirmed "stories" like most local stations do.

I wish "News Channel Nebraska" success.

They have been around for a while. At least two years and probably longer. They are on a fair number of smaller cable systems as well over the air ot of Norfolk.
In addition to the news they do an excellent job of covering High School Sports in the N.E. nebr area. I have watched a few HS football games from my home area on their stream and they are in HD with decent quality PbP. Have the score and time on the screen. Shot with more than one camera.
For the record  NEBUGEATER does not equal BUGEATER    !!!!!!!

Uh, any reason they don't have plain old regular streaming on the web?

Thanks @nebugeater, possibly the "27.2 NCN" OTA sub-channel in Omaha is new, or I totally missed this.

@omababe, just guessing ... if your business model is to sell ads, you don't want to alienate "affiliates" by going over the top of them. Also streaming your own content 24/7 is not inexpensive.

They are headquartered in Norfolk but also have offices is other cities such as Columbus http://columbusnewsteam.com They seem to focus on being a small town digital/video newspaper. They have all kinds of high school sports that while being are pretty basic they are nice to watch. I know some of the local Omaha news has picked up video and stories from them. The owners/investors also have a couple very popular radio stations in Norfolk.
