Big Kel's Pizza and Wings (Mid America Center)

The owners of Caddy's and Salty Dog are opening a new Pizza and Wing place called "Big Kel's", Named after Brian's Dad Kelly, in the old Famous Dave's by the mid America Center. Construction starts next week.

That's great news. The plaza could have been a great little area if not for the fact that rents have been too high and there simply was too much empty space all around town. At least now people can go get a pint at the brewery and get pizza next door

I just heard that they are planning on opening by Labor Day.

I saw the owner of Big Kels mentioned online that the rest of this space in the arena way development that has been empty since it was first built has finally been leased to a new gym.

that's good to see. I do wish there were more bays being used for retail and bars/restaurants, but something is better than nothing.

Side note: we had big Kel's a week ago, and while it isn't THE best pizza you'll ever have, it's pretty good stuff and the wings are the same as what you get at salty dog (which i love). They also have killer Italian nachos
