Moderate Drought for Douglas & Sarpy Counties

I see we've gone from "Abnormally Dry" to "Moderate Drought." My yard certainly looks like it.

It is not everywhere. My family lives about an hour north and they have been missing everything too.

It seems pretty widespread from the Omaha metro to north. An hour or somsouth has gotten some decent rain I’ve heard...

Have no idea. I haven’t been up there in 9 months.

Seems like a warm summer as well, warmer than the last few summers. Getting tired of the 90’s almost every day. Very few lawns look good right now unless you have a sprinkler system and lots of big shady trees.

I am tired of the 90's and sun everyday for my lawn, but am so thankful that we have a pool. It has been nice to be able to swim during lunch breaks during work from home.

I haven't checked yet, but I'm pretty sure we're well over the average for 90 degree days in a year.

Over 70 - 159
Over 80 - 100
Over 90 - 28
So far through July 22nd:
Over 70 - 85
Over 80 - 56
Over 90 - 29

We are certainly on pace to be wellll above average for this year.

Sounds like it, but who really knows? NWS currently forecasting about an inch between now and early tomorrow morning...

Heavy rainfall may lead to flash flooding this evening and overnight...Heavy rainfall is expected to develop this afternoon and
increase in both coverage and intensity after 7pm. Heavy rain is forecast to continue overnight before tapering off Monday morning. Most areas could see anywhere from 2 to 4 inches of rainfall. Some heavier pockets up toward 5 inches are possible...[Pottawattamie-Douglas-Sarpy-Seward-

I'm thinking that too. 2012 was the 2nd driest on record if I recall correctly with 1936 the driest. Would be cool to see how this summer compares to those two, but will probably have to wait for the NWS report on that, which would probably be at the end of Astronomical summer (Sept 21) or Meteorological Summer (August 31). I'm not sure exactly which of those end dates the NWS uses for Summer records.
