High School Football Friday, College Saturday, NFL Sunday

How exactly did that come about? Anybody know? I mean, yes, there are exceptions. There will be college or NFL games on Thursday night sometimes, but in general, Fridays are usually for High School Football, Saturdays for college and Sundays for the NFL and Monday nights.

What's the reason for that?

Besides the obvious answer- that the game of football is such a physically demanding contact sport..which requires multiple, consecutive days of recovery before the next contest..

Here is the other, simple answer- People love their football..Be it HS, college or NFL.. Say what you want, but football passed baseball long ago as America’s pastime..and is our most popular sport...

So they didn’t ‘steal’ each other’s fans. People could watch their local high school team on Friday night and then their college team Sat and the pros Sunday. As time went on I am sure the ‘sports’ bars enjoy 2-3 days of crowds coming in to watch games.
