Bronco's (2 Omaha Locations)

Post by Brad »

Bronco's is requesting feedback on a new Bronco's Location:

https://www.broncoburgers.com/location- ... your-help/

The three finalists appear to be:
Bellevue
NW Omaha
Papillion

Gretna was on the list but apparently removed.

This is always good to see a local chain expand locally.

For those that don't know, Bronco's was Omaha's first locally owned fast food chain started in 1959.

I forgot about that locations, it was removed and a Sonic was built, correct?

Was the sign different than from the Leavenworth location?

There was actually a Bronco Burger in Littleton, CO for a number of years. When we moved here we went the 72nd and Pacific location, and mentioned it to the manager. He said he had been there when they opened it.

Since we are on the subject, is there a difference of the quality/taste of food between the two current locations? We used to live in Hanscom Park so our first experience with Bronco's was Leavenworth. I liked it. We moved to Millard and since tried the one off 120th and Pacific and food tasted bland. Maybe it's just my limited experience with this restaurant.

I always like to go to the Leavenworth one partly just to see the diverse customers. It is always entertaining to eat in the small lobby and see people come in.

My favorite was one time for lunch a guy walked in and kept repeatedly saying "I'm lost in the sauce" ....not quite sure what he meant by that, but he was an interesting fella.

And the winner is?

NW OMAHA (INCLUDES ELKHORN) =2194

Thanks again to all of you, we have a much better understanding of where to look to future Bronco's locations. We'll look first at Elkhorn and the NW area of Omaha and then Bellevue. We love both of these locations and do not disagree with the results of this vote.

Stay tuned and we'll let you know when the time comes and we move on to stage two. It's going to be exciting!

They have given no indication at any point it's a replacement. Everything communicated from Bronco's refers to it as an additional one. No reason to believe otherwise, especially since the current 2 do such great business.

I would have thought N. 30th and the 72nd & Pacific locations would have been worth keeping open. But, long gone they are

Back around the time when N. 30th was sold to Sonic and 72nd was sold to Runza, didn't Bronco's say something like they were given an offer they couldn't refuse, and suggested a similar fate -- when and if the offer came -- for the two remaining locations? I agree both existing locations always seem to be busy, but money does talk.

Boy, I would sure hate to see them go. All fast food places are not the same!

There's something nice about having a local fast food chain. Runza is good, but it is really Lincoln's child not Omaha's.

My go to's when I get Bronco's are a pork tenderloin sandwich, hickory burger, small fry (with extra bag fries) and a strawberry shake. Its a wonderful combo. Haven't been there in 2 or 3 years, and all this talk really makes me want to get them soon. They are now on my "gotta have it again" post pandemic list.

Quick question, is there a difference in quality between the two existing Bronco's? I have been to both, but years apart. Is it like La Casa, Mama's, Zesto's and other local Omaha restaurants that have multiple locations with differing quality of food?

As a semi-regular at both Bronco's locations, I'd say there's no difference in the quality but sometimes difference in the quantity, as in the ridiculous amount (though delicious) of french fries they might give at one location vs. the other. The only other thing I've noticed is they seem to have Coke Zero at the 120th St. Location but not the Leavenworth one. (Now, having said that, I normally get pretty much the same thing each time so there may be differences in some other menu items.)

That's funny you mention the quantity of fries. Our more recent visits have been to the 120th and Center location and we got a mound of fries both times. I thought the food was OK, but was disappointed in the fried chicken; it was cooked well, but bland. People here seem to like the hickory burger and tenderloin, so I will have to try those sometime.

I had the pork tenderloin, a hickory burger, fries and a strawberry shake the other day. Was my first Bronco's in about two years and I enjoyed it. The fries are so different than what is expected. Almost like they shouldn't be good. They are floppy and brown and saturated with oil. Like the polar opposite of what McDonald's strives for, but somehow they are really really good.

In their monthly "newsletter" last week, they said:

We know things will get better and more and more people will be able to join the workforce and these issues are temporary.

In the meantime, we're focusing on improvements in and around our restaurants. We've also just launched our newly revamped website. What do you think?"

He opened the first Bronco’s restaurant at 30th and Fort St in 1959. Business was so good that he opened a second location at 45th and Leavenworth just three years later in 1962.
