Barker & Lerner Building updates
As we already know the Barker building will be turned into apartments rather then condo's. What is new is that Dicon construction has installed doors on the east side for constructions workers to use.
Lerner building: The Heritage foundation likely WILL NOT add the 3 floors of condo's above the building. They will however renovate the lower level in to retail (maybe the grocery store mentioned before) the second floor will be lofts but they too will NOT be condo's but rentals. Parking will be in the basement.
When the city put out bids for the Lerner building they only received one bid and that was from The Heritage foundation. They hope to begin renovation at the beginning of next year.

Dang no more top floors for the Lerner. That design was pretty cool with them. Any reasoning for not adding them?

Pros- Apartments. Finally something happening.
Cons- No exrta floors.
I've really been waiting to hear something about these projects. Once they are done we'll have a solid residential neighborhood with Barker, Lerner, the Paxton, the Orpheum Tower, 1600 Farnam, the Securities building (the apts above King Fong and Ernie's Flowers) Kensington Tower, the Regis, and the Brandies building. Does anyone else see the re-emergance of 16th Street?

I hope so, considering it's one of the most beautiful streets in Omaha.

Nope, sorry.DTO Luv wrote:The most beautiful street in Omaha. I can't wait until I move there.
That honor would go to Turner Boulevard, or Park Avenue, or possibly Happy Hollow Boulevard.

I guess you would know StreetsofOmaha better than me ;). Fine 16th St. is the most beautiful building in Omaha with buildings over 100'. How's that.
And is there some part of Park Ave I haven't seen? That's always been the poopiest street to Omaha.
