I could see Casey Thompson and maybe Trey Palmer returning. It's close though. I don't feel either of their draft stock is where they want despite them both lighting it up. If the off-season yields some decent offensive linemen, and Casey Thompson, Trey Palmer, and Anthony Grant stick around, next year could be stellar offensively.

Huskers climb in 247Sports team recruiting rankings following Barnes commitment

Nebraska football continued its climb in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings on Tuesday with the commitment of Booker T. Washington (La.) running back Arnold Barnes. Barnes, a three-star running back according to 247Sports and the industry-generated 247Sports Composite rankings, moved Nebraska from No. 39 up to No. 33 in the team recruiting rankings. The Huskers now have 15 commits, with two coming since Nebraska parted ways with Scott Frost as head coach. Barnes is a three-star prospect with an overall rating of 0.8511 according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings. Barnes is the second commitment of Mickey Joseph’s time as interim head coach, joining athlete Malachi Coleman of Lincoln East, who committed to Nebraska on Oct. 15. Nebraska's recruiting class had been ranked No. 51 in the country prior to Coleman announcing his commitment to the Huskers.

Nebraska's Mickey Joseph emerges among candidates for vacant Arizona State job

Nebraska interim head coach Mickey Joseph is among those being considered for Arizona State’s head coaching vacancy, HuskerOnline has learned. The Sun Devils fired Herm Edwards on Sept. 18 and named Shaun Aguano as their interim head coach. Aguano has gained popularity in the ASU fan base similar to the way Joseph has done at Nebraska.

Husker commit Van Poppel's senior season gains more recognition

It was already understood upon his summer commitment by those who follow Husker recruiting closely how significant Riley Van Poppel could be to this Nebraska recruiting class. But it always produces an extra layer of comfort to a fan base when a commit backs up the rankings with a big-time senior season. Van Poppel had that, and continues to get recognized for his work this fall at Argyle High School down in Texas. The D-lineman on Monday was named the District 3-5A Div II Defensive Player of the Year. Van Poppel had 80 tackles, including 17 for loss and 10 sacks.

Nebraska Recruiting: Rhule’s First Weekend of Official Visits Yields Commitments

New Jersey athlete Kwinten Ives committed to Nebraska during his visit, becoming the 13th commitment of Nebraska’s 2023 recruiting class, as of Sunday morning. Transfer portal long snapper Marco Ortiz announced his commitment to Nebraska on Sunday as well. Ortiz comes from Florida after missing the majority of last season with a shoulder injury. That leaves two other commitments that Hales teased left to be announced.

Nebraska also hosted junior college edge Kai Wallin and transfer portal offensive tackle Ben Scott (Arizona State), offensive tackle Ajani Cornelius (Rhode Island), quarterback Jeff Sims (Georgia Tech) and edge Elijah Jeudy (Texas A&M). Those are in addition to uncommitted high school prospects Malachi Coleman, Cameron Lenhardt, Tristan Alvano and Jaylen Lloyd. Colorado tight end commit Andrew Metzger also visited on Saturday. Coaches hosted commits Dylan Rodgers, Gunnar Gottula, Brock Knutson, Jaidyn Doss, Maverick Noonan and Sam Sledge as well. More official visits are planned next weekend.

Lloyd, the Omaha Westside speedster, was a late addition to the mix. He was scheduled to announce his commitment earlier this month, which would have been for track alone, but Rhule’s coaching staff made a push for the senior receiver. He’s scheduled to announce his commitment on Saturday, December 17, at the Omaha Boys and Girls Club at 1 p.m. It’s between Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Texas Tech and Nebraska, although Nebraska is the only school to offer him a football scholarship.
Recruits who took part in official visits this week went to Pinnacle Bank Arena to watch the Huskers play No. 4 Purdue into overtime. Rhule gave a fiery speech at halftime in his first public comments since his introduction.

Transfer Portal: Former Arkansas QB Malik Hornsby sets visit to Nebraska

Arkansas transfer quarterback Malik Hornsby has set an official visit to Nebraska, his trainer, J.P. Tillman, tells 247Sports. Hornsby will visit Lincoln starting Thursday and will stay through the weekend. The former four-star recruit has a history with new Huskers head coach Matt Rhule dating back to Rhule’s time with Baylor. Hornsby came very close to committing to the Bears coming out of Fort Bend Marshall High School in Missouri City, Texas. But when Rhule left Baylor for the Carolina Panthers following the 2019 season, Hornsby pivoted in his recruitment toward Arkansas.

Report: Huskers hiring Florida high school coach for staff position

Nebraska football is adding to its staff through the high school ranks as former Homestead (Fla.) coach Phillip Simpson is headed to Lincoln to help as an assistant defensive line coach for the Huskers. The Miami Herald reported the news earlier this month as Homestead played and lost in a state title game to St. Thomas Aquinas, Simpson’s last with the program. The paper also reported that as of Wednesday a contract had not been signed, but Simpson had notified his players.

I was told that in the initial recruiting of Raiola, Frost went down for a visit. Raiola had like 15 family and friends over, more than likely to commit. Frost got too drunk on the golf course and told Raiola's dad he couldn't make it. Dominic told Frost to sober up, he'll send an Uber, but Frost asked to have it over zoom. Next morning Day and the entire Ohio State offensive staff flew down and met with him, and he committed.

USC, TCU, Nebraska and Georgia are all in the mix now. From what I've heard Nebraska has a really big shot to land him now that Frost is gone.

Huskers receive commitment from former Florida Gator

Nebraska has received a commitment from defensive back Corey Collier, who was regarded as one of the top prospects at his position coming out of high school just two years ago. The former Florida Gator defensive back was visiting Lincoln this weekend. He's a former high school teammate of NU commit Dwight Bootle II. Nebraska lands coveted DB Rahmir Stewart from Philadelphia

Nebraska was still trying to bring in recruits on Friday and Saturday for a huge recruiting weekend in Lincoln. One of the reasons the weekend was huge was because of DB Rahmir Stewart from Philadelphia (Pa.) Imhotep Institute. Stewart committed to Nebraska on Saturday night before leaving Lincoln.

I'm getting tired of all these players always changing their minds all the time and the transfer portal as well. Both are pretty much ruining college football. College football is not set up as fairly as the NFL. College football really favors where a team is geographically located.

Most of the good college football teams are in warm weather locations. Nebraska is left out in the cold. That's one of the main reasons Nebraska won't win another National Championships, just simply because of its location. Baylor, Alabama and USC don't have to worry about this problem as they sit in just the right spot.

I wish The University of Nebraska would step back on its commitment to Football and focus more on improving its education reputation and increase its academic standing with the other Big10 schools. It's time to stop Spending so much money on one sport when the results are always more losing than winning. The landscape of College football changed about 20 years ago and it didn't include cold weather teams in its plans.

He has thrown for 4,464 yards and 30 touchdowns to 23 interceptions to go along with 1,166 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns.
