Nebraska Blood Bank announces they are in a blood emergency
'We are at a critical level'
The Nebraska Community Blood Bank announced they are now in a blood emergency and they are in dire need of blood donations. "A blood emergency is when we are at a critical level, usually less than three days of supply for a specific blood type," said Kari Lundeen with NCBB. Right now, that blood type is type O, both negative and positive. Lundeen stressed that if they don't get more, the shortage could impact area hospitals.
Nebraska Community Blood Bank said people can donate blood every 56 days at their facility located near 120th and Pacific streets. The organization is also offering incentives to get more people to donate.
