BREAKING: Three-alarm fire breaks out at Firstar Fiber on Wednesday night
The Omaha Fire Department is battling a large three-alarm fire that broke out at Firstar Fiber on Wednesday night. According to a tweet, a captain issued a "Mayday" call after being separated from a hose line. They were quickly located and helped out of the building and evaluated by medics and is doing well.
The first call about the fire was around 10:20 p.m. 3 News Now Reporter Molly Hudson is on scene and says there is a lot of activity on I Street.

Omaha Fire responds to three-alarm fire
Omaha Fire crews responded to a three-alarm fire at Firstar Fiber. The call came in just before 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday. During the incident, OFD reports a fire captain was separated from a hose line. A Mayday was called, he was quickly found and taken medics for evaluation. He is said to be doing well.
Firstar Fiber is located near 102nd and I Street. On Monday, 6 News reported on their program to turn recycled items into lumber.

OFD investigates large fire at First Star Recycling
Fire officials are investigating the cause of a three-alarm fire in Omaha.

Omaha firefighters gave our partners at WOWT Channel 6 an update early Thursday about a three-alarm fire at a recycling business. The call came out at First Star Recycling at 10:24 p.m. Wednesday. Eventually, about 70 firefighters were at the scene at 103rd & I Street.
A second alarm was declared at 10:44 p.m. and a third alarm came in at 11:03 p.m. A Mayday alert was heard around 11:44 p.m. after a fire captain became separated from a hose line. The fire captain was found after four minutes. He was evaluated by medics and was doing well. Fire investigators have not determined a cause of the fire. At a 7 a.m. briefing, they said it was unknown if anyone was inside the facility at the time or exactly where the fire started.
