A standout Husker football player is taking his talents to the mat. Nash Hutmacher, a defensive lineman, is joining the Nebraska wrestling team. He's listed as a projected starter at heavyweight for Nebraska's matches against Wyoming and Northern Iowa on Saturday. In high school, Hutmacher was a four-time state champion in wrestling. He was 166-0 from his freshman to senior year, including 43-0 as a senior, finishing as the nation's No. 1 heavyweight. In 2023, Hutmacher started 12 games for the Huskers, with a career-high 40 tackles, 8 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks.

Nebraska Wrestlers Dominant Against Michigan

On Senior Night in Lincoln, the fifth-ranked Nebraska wrestlers won eight of 10 matches Friday night against Michigan, dominating their dual meet against the ninth-ranked Wolverines, 25-7. The comfortable victory margin was aided by wins against higher-ranked opponents by three Huskers: Caleb Smith (No. 13 vs. No. 6), Jacob Ven Dee (No. 19 vs. No. 4) and Antrell Taylor (No. 16 vs. No. 10). The Huskers improved to 11-1 on the season and 6-1 in the Big Ten, while Michigan slipped to 6-4 and 4-1.
