The Hoop Collective

Post by Doctor Fate »

Brian Windhorst is an ESPN writer who covers the NBA and lives in Omaha with his wife, who is from there. He started covering LeBron James when he (LeBron) was in high school, then began covering the Cavaliers when LeBron was drafter, and started at ESPN in 2010. He has appeared on numerous ESPN shows like NBA Today, SportsCenter, First Take, and Get Up as an NBA Insider. Anyways, he has a popular podcast called "Brian Windhorst and the Hoop Collective" where he and two other NBA reports/insiders discuss the NBA. The other two guys say some stupid |expletive| every couple episodes about Nebraska (ie. a comment about cornfields) and Windy will correct them and usually retort with a general, positive comment about Omaha.

Huh…I didn’t know he lived in Omaha but then again, I wouldn’t listen to his podcast to know because I’m not a fan of his. Just a mouthpiece for Lebron and Rich crew. He always points out his mom was one of Lebron’s grade schoolteachers.

He has some good insights into Association mechanics at times. He has gotten to a point where his career isn't tied to LeBron and will criticize him. None of the three guys on the podcast played at any higher level of competition as far as I know, so their better takes are usually outside of the game itself.

He definitely has a great respect for LeBron. Won't argue that. I was listening to him yesterday and he acknowledged the February antics LeBron pulls to "get his team to do something" and that he's glad he's not directly tied to reporting about him anymore.

Anyway, I like the pod, though I am not a huge fan of Bontemps. He can be kind of a D, and his voice is kind of grating. Overall though, I enjoy the insights they have.

I am not a Bontemps fan either. His whole thing with Luka was pretty telling about his personality and ego.

My bad, I get the two Tims confused. McMahon was the one who got into it with Luka. I am still not a Bontempts fan lol.
