Huskers in the NBA / Pro leagues

Post by nebugeater »

I thought I would start a thread so the posts about the few Huskers that make the NBA or other pro leagues do not get lost in a season thread.

Searched and did not find that we had a thread that covers this.

Looks like Bryce McGowens, who was cut by the Hornets, is getting another chance. Last season he played in 59 games and had 14 starts per this report
He has signed a two-way deal with the Portland Trail Blazers.

A reminder that he was only with the Huskers as a freshman on 21/22 for one season.

Hope he makes it for a few more years

(two way contract in the NBA ---- Players on two-ways are not playoff eligible and are limited to 50 games on a team's active list (also pro-rated). They are also on the minor league affiliate team. Can be renegotiated in season)

It appears then that the Blazers will have 2 former Huskers (both Hoiberg era). Dalano Banton is there already.

Jack McVeigh, a Husker for 2015, 16, and 17 seasons, is still playing in the professional league in Australia, his home country.

He plays for the NBL team Tasmania JackJumpers. He recently signed an extension through the 26/27 season and was named the MVP of the team and the championship series that they won.
No idea what level of play this is but he is still playing.

He is also playing in the Olympics

Jack McVeigh in Group A, Keisei Tominaga in Group B, USA assistant coach Tyronn Lue in Group C.

Plenty of Nebrasketball representation in Paris later this month.

It was reported yesterday (7/15) that Jack McVeigh has signed a two-way contract with the Houston Rockets.
