Family-owned Enterprise Media Group based in Blair has been sold to Carpenter Media Group based in Alabama.
This included the local newspapers: Washington County Enterprise, Washington County Pilot-Tribune, Arlington Citizen, West Point News, Wisner News-Chronicle, Oakland Independent, and Lyons Mirror-Sun in Nebraska, and the Missouri Valley Times News, The Dunlap Reporter, and The Mapleton Press in Iowa.
It is hard to determine at this point what that all will mean, but I hope it is not a negative for its group of newspapers. I subscribe to the Oakland Independent and follow some of what goes on with the West Point and Lyons Newspapers. They all do a solid job for the local communities. I have a pretty solid connection that is deeply involved with these three papers, and recently, as this last fall, we were talking. It sounded like things were solid, and subscription levels, while they always can be better, were not anywhere close to flat-lining. IT will be interesting to see what, if anything, changes over the foreseeable future.

A quick Google search shows that they have made other acquisitions recently.
