So the camera didn't get quite the workout I was hoping for, but here's a few that made the cut.

Fountain on Ward Parkway

Stream running through Corporate Woods in Overland Park. Corporate Woods is a large business park on about 300acres. No 3-story buildings here - its all fairly tall offices, relatively speaking for suburban development.

Nice complex of buildings in Overland Park. These are very prominent in the Overland Park skyline when travelling I-435, which would be on the other side of the buildings in this photo.

Overland Park Convention Center and Hotel.

I recommend the Steak Diane.

That's very impressive for a business park. It reminds me a lot of the FNB Business Park. Is that Cheesecake Factory in the business park?

Heh, no. The Cheesecake Factory is at 119th & Metcalf area, nearly right across the street to the south of the Sprint World Headquarters. Corporate Woods is along Antioch and College Blvd (110th St or so). Just to clarify, the only pic of a Corporate Woods building is those two of the same building. The Convention Center and the other complex are all on College Blvd along with quite a few other buildings. I have a snapshot I took from the freeway. I'll have to dig it up tonight.

Something else I discovered while down there is the new 435 project. Here's the rundown from KSDOT:

- A new interchange at Antioch Road and I-435.
- Widening I-435 from six to eight lanes between Metcalf Avenue and US-69, including auxiliary lanes between interchanges for entering and exiting.
- An elevated two-lane fly-over ramp, from southbound US 69 to eastbound I-435, to replace the existing loop ramp in the southwest quadrant of the I-435/US-69 Interchange.
- Partial reconstruction of the 103rd Street Interchange.

The whole project comes in at a whopping 500million and a completion date of spring 2009.

Here is the website for corporate woods business park. They currently have 29 office buildings with 2,100,000 square feet of office space. On the website check out the About Us page their is a virtual tours page and a future plans page, both very interesting.

I couldn't disagree more. Corporate Woods is the best suburban office complex I've seen. Its not a bare concrete sea of low rises like life along West Dodge. Its full of trees, walking/biking paths, winding landscaped median separated 4lane roads, tasteful building design and is responsible for a lot of service oriented business in the immediate vicinity. If not for the buildings you would think it was a park.

What exactly are you puking about?

Certainly (suburban) Omaha SHOULD look to KC's Corporate Woods... and First National Business Park is a good -start-. It's certainly an improvement, architecturally, over typical West Dodge Omaha office parks... and the inclusion of upscale restaurants is a nice addition as well.

One Pacific Place is probably a slightly better comparison, with it's increased mixed use, park spaces, walking trails.

Point taken, obvious and already embraced by most of us, but taken.

Now go out and start convincing that majority of the American population and developers which think otherwise.
