I was late waiting in the will call line, so I missed the opening hoopla... but here's a few game photos (including one fight photo
). Chicago came out and scored early and often... although the Knights had an exciting little run in the 3rd period which had people remembering how loud the 'old' Civic could be (and possibly even startling the Knights who were probably just getting used an otherwise rather silent crowd).

I guess barren can come in a couple of forms. Another being a seemingly empty arena. The Qwest Center would have been less than half full with this attendance. On the other hand, would the appeal of the new arena bring in more people? Maybe. It will be interesting to see where Maverick attendance falls this season (so to speak).

Yeah and the Civic looks so small. The roof seems so low. I am not dissing the Civic. It is just wierd how your perspective can change so much. We are using the Qwest now as point of reference and personally I haven't been in the Civic since the Qwest opened so some time has gone by.
It is like revisiting your fifth grade classroom. The room isn't any smaller but it sure feels that way.
I hope we can continue to find a way to make the Civic a viable enterprise and that it is successful enough that we can put the budget dollars toward its proper maintenance. I was walking with my family by the Mancuso Convention Center portion after last week's RiverCity Roundup parade. There were missing and stained tiles on the overhang over the sidewalk. Chipped paint on the trim. Hope this was an exception and not a sign of things to come.

My old signature got too old. So old it was getting almost as old me as me. Yeah, it was up there in years.

Yeah, it is weird. I haven't been to civic since 1999. I remember it feeling so huge. Now it seems so tiny compared to the glorious Qwest Center.

I was there as well and although the Will Call line was terrible they treated me rather nicely they just came by and gave me tickets without having me wait in line so I got in to watch the game right away. The arena wasnt very loud at first but when we started scoring goals it got much louder. Of course I was behind the glass by Chicago's goalie taunting him and pounding on the glass when we scored our 2 goals so I take credit for it. But I plan on going back soon it was a great time.

The thing I have noticed with all three teams in town is that the advertising along the "boards" (walls of the rink for the non hockey fan) is way down at all three rinks.
Tonight should be interesting, tonight is the first time when all three teams have played at the exact time.

Decent game at the Qwest, even with 2/3 of the upper bowl tarped off, one ticket still got you about ten seats.
