The IRL IndyCar Series will make its first visit to Iowa Speedway in Newton, Iowa, in 2007.
With a 7/8ths of a mile layout, the new facility, which is nearing completion, will host a 250-lap ICS race on June 24 and an Indy Pro Series 100-miler the day before.
This was on the 10:00 news this evening.
So - could it draw the IRL names?
Or more to the point - Danica Patrick?

Update: Nationwide NASCAR will be at Newton Aug. 1
STAFF AND WIRE REPORTS • August 19, 2008
The Iowa Speedway in Newton will host a NASCAR Nationwide Series race next season.
Track officials announced today that the 250-lap race will run on August 1.
Landing a Nationwide Series race is a major coup for the 7/8-mile oval track, which was designed by Rusty Wallace. The yet-to-be named race is the second from a major circuit on the track's 2009 schedule, joining the Indy Racing League's Iowa 250.
Wallace says it has yet to be decided whether the race will be run during the day or at night.
The Nationwide Series is NASCAR's second-tier stock car circuit, often drawing many of the sport's top drivers.

Well 15 years later.....
Rumors circulating the NASCAR world. NASCAR was planning to go to Montreal, Canada for a race in 2024. However that might not happen now and Rumors are the NASCAR Cup series might run at the Iowa Speedway in 2024.
Supposedly this Montreal/Iowa date is what's holding up the release of the 2024 NASCAR schedule, which should have been released by now.
