Oktoberfest

Post by midtown charlie »

Where are the various Oktoberfests being held around Omaha and which one is the best?

Crescent Moon / Huber Haus has one that I hear is good but haven't been to.

Gerda's is supposed to be very good but haven't been.

What do people think is the best one??

I have not been to one since moving back to Omaha a while ago - so I would like to hear people's opinions also. Image

German American Society Oktoberfest September 16

I would bet that the German restaurant in the Old Market is having an event.

It's called Das Rheinland (which I'm sure I'm butchering the spelling).

I know we had this discussion last year, so someone can dig it up.

Edelweiss in Bellevue puts on the best Oktoberfest in town; beer garden, steins, food, and polka bands!

Actually that's a common mistake, as most Oktoberfest celebrations are in September. It has something to do with celebrating the oncoming of October (or that might be an old rumor).

Oktoberfest began as a wedding party for Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria - but then developed into a two week festival in Munich. It always opens on a Saturday and its duration varies depending on the days of the week each year (approximately 16 days). The festival has traditionally ended on the first Sunday of October.

This year Omaha will have German Roast Pig, Roast Chicken, Schnitzel and Bratwurst from noon to 7:00 p.m. and Warsteiner beer on tap. AND - The Jägermeister Girls will be serving shots of Jägermeister and giving out prizes. :D

Here is last year's thread:
Oktoberfest in Omaha?
