This past weekend I was in my hometown and at my friends house, they have a hummingbird feeder that was the source of much entertainment. These little guys were throwing down over the feeder! Trying to fatten up for the flight south I guess. Pretty hairy having up to 6 of them flying around your head and stuff, they paid no attention to me. Anyways, heres the pics.

Nice! The hummers can be very protective over their favorite watering hole.
We had a nasty one in New Mexico that we called Attila the Hum.

We only get one at a time at our place ... but they come by fairly often. I took these within this past week (a little grainy because of the screen door separating us).

I have always wondered whether hummers slurp a lot of sugar and so are so hyper
or if they are naturally so hyper that they need to constantly feed.
(Exchange hummer for 3 year-old)

I love these things. They remind me of New Mexico. I know a very similar hummer, Coyote, named Rufus.

Yeah, down in the southwest, they're almost like mosquitoes.

Here's one I caught drinking from my parents fountain in Sun City West, AZ.
