The University of Nebraska at Omaha announced that 2007-08 season hockey tickets are now available – with some important changes from last year’s offering.
Improvements in the Mavs’ season ticket packages include the elimination of priority pricing, a new online ticketing option, additional season tickets at special 10th Anniversary prices and a first-ever “Red Army” special season ticket package.
UNO will no longer offer priority pricing on ticket packages, making those seats available at regular season ticket prices without an additional donation to the University. Current season ticket holders will have until June 15 to reserve their seats. For the first time, fans can also go online to get tickets by visiting http://www.unotix.com.
• Full season ticket/lower bowl – $345/$100 deposit
• Full season ticket/upper bowl – $276/$100 deposit
• 10-game pack/lower bowl – $150/$50 deposit
• 10-game pack/upper bowl – $120/$50 deposit
Additional 10th Anniversary season tickets are available to celebrate a decade of Division I hockey at UNO. When current season tickets are renewed at regular price, fans can purchase additional full season tickets at a special discount. Lower bowl tickets will sell for $237.50, while upper bowl seats will be $199.50. There’s no limit to the amount of additional season tickets - fans can purchase as many as they want.
For the first time, the Mavs will also offer exclusive “Red Army” section tickets - $99 for the season. The upper bowl seats in the south end of the Qwest Center are home to UNO’s rowdiest fans. The tickets, located in sections 209-216, require a $25 deposit.
Head coach Mike Kemp starts his 11th year at the helm for the Mavs. With a home ice record of 13-6-2 this past year; Kemp says that the club’s fans are a great asset to the team.
“Our fans are a tremendous help to us every time we hit the ice,” he said. “We appreciate the support we get in Omaha and we’re looking forward to another great season.”

I sure hope not. 2 a year is enough. Until they dump several million in to the Civic!GaryFL wrote:Any possibility we might see more UNO games at the Civic in the future?

The jerseys were pink, and the defense was decidedly green.
Still, there wasn't much gray area about which was the dominant hockey team skating on the Qwest Center Omaha rink Friday night. Mick Lawrence scored twice and added an assist, while Dan Charleston had a goal and set up two other scores to help UNO roll over Manitoba 8-1 in the season opener.
The University of Nebraska at Omaha — wearing special pink sweaters this weekend to raise money and awareness for breast cancer — played the entire game without Juha Uotila and Ed Del Grosso, its top two returning D-men.
Don't tell the UNO hockey team's veterans it doesn't mean anything to get their hands back on the Maverick Stampede championship trophy.
The University of Nebraska at Omaha's all-senior top line of Mick Lawrence, Bryan Marshall and Brandon Scero sure played this weekend like they were hungry to defend their own ice.
The Mavericks, who lost their own season-opening tournament last year to CCHA rival Northern Michigan, put together a three-goal third period in the Stampede championship game Saturday night to put away Alabama-Huntsville 5-1.
Talk about how much they stood out if you want to. Call them the stars of the tournament if you must.
But you'll have to forgive Mick Lawrence, Brandon Scero and Bryan Marshall for not getting worked up about the gaudy numbers they put up last weekend during the UNO hockey team's season-opening Mavericks Stampede.
The three senior forwards who make up UNO's No. 1 line all say they were merely doing their jobs, and they agree that their team has a whole lot more to prove.
"We are pretty much our go-to guys, but we know we'll have to keep showing what we can do out on the ice," said Lawrence, named the Stampede MVP. "As the top line, teams are going to be running at us and trying to shut us down, so we're going to need all of our lines to get going, too. Hopefully we can lead by example and just have everyone on the team follow suit."
For sure, the word "leadership" comes up constantly when you talk to UNO's seniors.

It was a Breast Caner fund raiser, they auctioned them off after the Saturday game.Swift wrote:Are their uniforms really pink or is it just the lighting?

They usually pick up when football winds down. Especially on Fridays when High school is done.Stargazer wrote:Hopefully, attendance will come up a little more with the departure of the Knights.

Omaha World Herald wrote:The University of Nebraska at Omaha — with only one exhibition victory and one regular-season win on its 2007-08 resume — opens the CCHA schedule tonight and Saturday with a tough two-game series at second-ranked Miami. The RedHawks are 4-0-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the CCHA with a pair of sweeps over Vermont and Ohio State. Miami has outscored its opponents 16-4 while allowing only one goal in each of their victories.

"Clearly, there's just so much anticipation for these games," Kemp said. "They're coming here as a highly ranked team, and for us, we can't wait to get the opportunity to play a team like that at home."
As a nice little side bonus for the university on 60th and Dodge, the Mavs on back-to-back nights will get a double pop of television exposure. The UNO football team's Thursday night showdown against South Dakota aired live on both CSTV and NET, and those same networks will broadcast tonight's hockey game from Qwest Center Omaha.
And there's no downplaying the significance of the Mavs getting to host Michigan at their riverfront arena. The two largest home hockey crowds in UNO history both showed up for games against the weasels at the Qwest Center.
On Dec. 13, 2003, 10,034 fans saw the Mavs and weasels skate to a 3-3 tie. That turnout was topped only by the 10,415 who watched Michigan edge UNO 4-3 on Feb. 12, 2005.
In the five seasons since the Mavs moved to Qwest Center Omaha, UNO has hosted only two series there against the weasels — arguably the most high-profile program in the CCHA and easily the most despised opponent by UNO puckheads. Those four games attracted a combined 38,970 fans.
"Michigan always is a team that you get up for," said UNO senior forward Brandon Scero, a Canton, Mich., native. "We're going to be at our rink, and we're going to get to play in front of our fans. This is another series that allows us to really see where we're at, and it's going to be a lot of fun."
