Downtown Parking Information

Post by Railroader »

Does anyone know of a website or some other way I can get some detailed information on parking downtown, specifically centered around 1400 Douglas (the new UP Building)? The new parking garage going in with the tunnel will only house about 1/3 of the employees' cars, so we're looking for places to park.

In searching the web, I have found individual spots (hotels mostly) but I need some specifics for the spots around the new building.

Also, many of our employees ride the bus now, but we've seen that the routes run by Metro Area Transit are a bit limited (most of our people will be living west of I-680 and south of Dodge). We understand that Omaha doesn't have the population to offer the number of buses and service that St Louis does, but maybe if the demand increases, the routes will too. If you know anything about potential expansion of routes and number of runs daily, please let me know about that as well.

Thanks for any guidance you can give me!

No doubt our mass transit isn't anywhere NEAR as good as St Louis... but there are some options (for those who don't want to drive a car downtown).

There's a 'park and ride' express that runs out of Oakview...

MAT is in the process of bringing a new rout system online, I think sometime this summer, so bus service should improve.

Also, even if you can't find parking downtown close to UPC, you can park in some of the other areas of downtown and take the circulator buses over to the building. The circulators run during the morning and evening rush hours as well as at lunch time, and they only cost 25 cents! I'm sure there is more information on the MAT website.
