Urbanspoon — the restaurant search tool that iPhone launched in several bigger cities earlier this year — has arrived in Omaha.

That means lucky Omaha boys and girls who get iPhones this Christmas can jiggle their new gadgets — instead of looking out the window, phoning a friend or relying on memory — to find nearby restaurants.

The iPhone-bereft can see the information at urbanspoon.com.

On a recent check, it listed 1,834 eateries in the Omaha metro.

I used this on my iPhone when I was in St Louis in Nov. It worked really well. It will give you restaurants, locations, and reviews. I even wrote urbanspoon and asked when they were getting here since we had an apple store and iphones. They did respond and say it was on the way.

I was checking out the Omaha listing yesterday. Its a nice tool that has arrived, but it needs user updates. I found a number of missing restaurants(Sullivan's, Vincenzo downtown) as well as some restaurants that are now closed(Howard St. Pizza). Fortunately there's section to submit updated information. Also if you search by "neighborhood" it doesn't subdivide Omaha properly, (Downtown, Dundee, Benson,etc.) rather you choose between, Omaha, Elkhorn, Papillion, Bellevue, etc. Hopefully the iphone toting photo freaks on this forum will update the Omaha listings with photos and menu information.
