It is supposedly the fastest growing motorsport. They began with one race in 2006, four in 2007, six in 2008, 10 in 2009, and will have 23 next year in 2010. The Mutually Assured Destruction of Omaha (an obvious play-off of Mutual of Omaha) will be held August 28th and 29th at the Mid-America Motorplex in Pacific Junction, IA. Anyone can participate, racing license or not, and you can guzzy your car up however you want. The 24 Hours of LeMons is restricted to cars that were purchased, fixed up, and track-prepped for total of $500 or less. At most venues, the racing consists of tech inspection and track testing on Friday; long-|expletive| endurance-race sessions on Saturday and Sunday; and breaks for sleeping, eating, and Band-Aid application every night. At least once a year, we also hold a straight 24-hour endurance race. Count on plenty of noise, prizes, water fights, and questionably civilized fun before, during, and after the track sessions. Finally, assuming you're still standing, there's the gala awards ceremony which presents trophies, plaques, and winner's purses paid out in nickels.
Here, for example, is a DedBull VW Golf:

The Mutually Assured Destruction of Omaha will be among other races such as the Sears Pointless in San Francisco, The Going for Broken 24-Hour in Reno, the North Dallas Hooptie, and the 24 Horas de Cuba del Norte in Miami.
