OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. -- A plane from Offutt Air Force Base dropped something as it flew near Bellevue Friday.

An escape slide fell from an E-4B National Airborne Operations Center aircraft as it approached the base. The 6-foot long slide is inflatable and made of neoprene. It weighs about 275 pounds and officials believe it fell somewhere near Highway 370 and 25th Street in Bellevue.

Airmen located the slide's cover, but they are still looking for the slide. If you've seen it, call (402) 294-3725.

Offutt is conducting a safety investigation to learn why the slide fell.

Yikes!

At least it didn't slam through someone's house or some other occupied building......or as far as we know. I guessing if they don't find it relatively soon, somebody I'll probably turn it up in a year or two in some field.

It's probably at the bottom of the Big Papio.. that creek runs pretty deep in some spots...it wouldn't surprise me and it'd be wide enough.
