Not to mention Hoke (from Ball St) going to SDSU (as in, "we've sucked since Marshall Faulk left" SDSU).

I think Gill made a wise move staying at Buffalo for a year or two (or is lucky no one else hired him, however it worked out). He has job security there for as long as he wants it, whereas he'd be gone in 3 or 4 if he didn't pan out at an Auburn or Syracuse kind of place. If he can put together a couple more 7,8,9-win seasons at Buffalo and prove this year as a whole was no fluke (although the MAC championship game certainly was), he might be in line for one of the big-dog places and a seven-figure paycheck.

You are making a BIG assumption that Gill got an offer and turned it down. I am more and more leaning towards he got passed over for some very unfortunate reasons. Some of the booster feedback that was "leaked" out today is telling of a sad situation. In the end it may be best for Gill.

Perhaps Gil will get a look from TCU... would be a good opportunity taking him back to his home state.

Did Patterson leave TCU? I must have missed that tidbit.

Any one that claims that NC for Texas in 1970 is a mook. They lost their bowl game. UPI (at the time, I think) gave their NCs out prior to the bowls.

Don't think college football is any more or less screwed up now than it ever has been.
Hey, it's out there. One could make the argument (and it has been made) that Texas coasted in their bowl after being made NC. Whatever makes everyone feel better....

Yay Huskers. Hold off a late Clemson drive to win the Gator Bowl 26-21, despite their best efforts to hand them the game for the previous 58 minutes.

IN YOUR FACE, DTO!!!!

Whether you hate the Huskers or not... you've got to respect Ganz. He is one tough kid.

I sure hope Suh doesn't decide to go early after all (I'm sure his stock is sky high after this performance)... he's going to be critical to shoring up the defensive line while the offense is shaken up next year.

That was a great game that kept your attention till the end.
Suh said he be coming back unless they say he would be a top 15 pick.
To have Suh and Steinkuhler back next year would be sweet.

Yeah, we're going to miss Steinkuhler and Potter. Hopefully a more experienced secondary/linebacking corps will help balance things out.

The important thing is that the Hawkeyes dominated S Carolina to win their bowl 31-10. What did I tell ya Big E, no stopping Shonn Greene.

Once upon a time, Josh came across as just some guy annoyed with Husker football fans.

We should have known he was just another Hawkeye fan with a chip on his shoulder. :)

Correct on all fronts. I'm a Hawkeye fan with a chip on my shoulder because I'm annoyed with Husker football fans.

Honestly, even though I've always been a Hawkeye, I used to root for Nebraska on the side when I lived in Iowa. I had to move here to start hating on them. :;):

Great pictures, I've always enjoyed the atmosphere at Arrowhead.

I don't know about everyone else but I've always thought the spirited discussion and love of ones home teams is something to look forward to each year. Sure I am Nebraska born fan of the Huskers but equally a fan of the support and the class act programs in it. I must say I was very discontent under the Pederson era but feel hope that the class has returned to the program even if major success and consistent top 10 finishes are a ways off. At least the players and coaches recognize they have work to do and aren't settling.

That's not having a chip on your shoulder. That's called being a d-bag. :;):

And the Buffalo Bulls' dream season comes to an end today with a 38-20 loss to UConn in the International Bowl. UB had a lead in the third quarter, and was threatening to make it a one possession game with 3 minutes left before UConn returned an INT 100 yards to get to their final margin of victory. Here's to all of you who predicted an 8-win season, bowl berth and MAC championship for UB before the season began.

Having the members of the 1959 team that turned down UB's only other bowl invite there as honorary captains was pretty f-ing cool, as well.

Bad play calling inside the 5 for sure. I really think they outplayed FU for most of the game - but fell short when they needed it. Bradford outplayed the T-bow - except in rushing.

Honestly, I would grumble a bit if I were an Oklahoma fan. Should they fire Stoops? Absolutely not. But, Oklahoma is 1-5 in the past 6 BCS games now. Stoops needs to prove that he can win "the big ones" at some point. A title in 2000 is great, but prove that it wasn't a one time deal.

Then again, I would be happy is Nebraska could just make it to a BCS game. :)

On another note, I tried to ignore people wanting a Florida-USC matchup for this game. I felt that UF-OU was the best matchup. However, after watching the USC-PSU and UF-OU games, I think USC vs Florida would have been great. I hate to admit that though after hearing ESPN treat USC like their own child.

Its funny hearing Nebraska fans use that (Not DTO) because I remember being a kid and saying "How come Tom Osborn doesn't eat cereal.... Because he loses all his bowls..."

No matter what you think of his bowl performance he is still an outstanding coach, and most schools would love to have him.

Amen. By my count Osborne was 3-12 all time in games that either A) wold have won him a National Championship or B) allowed him to play for a National Championship (ie, '82 Penn State, '78 Missouri).
