I can't imagine living next to that house. How often do trains drive down that street?

At least two Trains a day each way. And that's not including the switcher jobs to and from yard to yard.

Allan is right, all the "through trains" stay on the north side of the yard paralleling 9th ave, then crossing 9th ave just east of the Golden Spike and head NE towards the North Yard, and then on to Missouri Valley, The line is for trains that need to be switched in the Council Bluffs Yard.

The only Trains that use this line are the MPRCB,MCBPR,LNB-41,LNB-42. The LNB-41 and 42 are the Blair Trains going to and coming from Cargill to Council Bluffs. Other than that. That line doesn't get used that much.

I saw two train engines with 2-3 train cars crossing the tracks on Cuming today (the tracks that cross Cuming and go just west of the Qwest Center). Is this normal? I've never seen trains on that track before and thought they weren't used anymore. I noticed that the tracks lead up to a building.

I also saw an old caboose sitting by itself on the tracks by the river front. Haven't seen one of those in a while!

Those tracks are used every week. They serve the Omaha World Harold.

The caboose is used then the train leaves north Omaha. The train heads south in to the BNSF yard, then it backs up the hill to the stations. The conductor rides on the caboose while the train is in reverse.

Oh okay. I knew it was a stupid question - I always thought those tracks weren't used anymore for some reason.

Very cool! With all these "special movements" i'm never really sure what's going to show up attached to these trains...or in this case soaring over.

About 2 weeks ago, I was driving through Boone, Iowa and stopped at the Kate Shelley Bridge, the highest double track bridge in the United States.

Because of construction, I was not able to get a closer view. From the south looking northeast. Sorry about the wire, I must've been too lazy to get out of my car.

And from a small bridge looking south

GE Locomotive Commercial?

Did anyone just see the GE Locomotive Commercial that aired during tonights Opening night of the NFL at the beginning of the 4th Quater? It was cool to see Trains and Football together!

The actual commercial is the beginning of this video, then the rest of it is "Behind the Secnes".

I try to pride myself in Never trespassing to get a Railroad Photo, but the Devil was in a Big Red and Black locomotive... The fact that there were several other railfans trespassing too didn't help either. I know... "You mother always said, if all your friends jumped off a bridge, would you?"

So here are my illegal photos... sorry IAIS.

Here is a little more information for those looking to get Photos:
The first trip will leave Atlantic at 9 a.m. on July 25th and arrive in Anita around
9:35 a.m. After switching the locomotive around, the train would depart Anita at
10:10 a.m. and arrive in Atlantic around 10:45 a.m. The second trip from Atlantic
would depart at 12-noon and arrive in Anita by 12:35 p.m., then leave Anita at
1:10 p.m. and arrive in Atlantic at 1:45 p.m. The train would then depart back to
Anita and arrive around 3 p.m.
