Aside that, good god that center for Nebraska is horrible. My goodness Nebraska would probably be better off pulling a big kid from the crowd.
The cost of the lack of a walk-on program. The scholarships go to the stars and the recruiting budget goes for them and the non-scholarship impact players. The big kids in the center of the line are the walk ons. They can go to NDSU or SDSU and get a good education, and play on a scholarship. Now NU has to scrounge.
I never fault a kid for going elsewhere and getting a free education. That being said, Frost has obviously put a great deal of emphasis in building the walk on program back up. A co workers kid has been recruited to it and I can say that they are putting a lot of time and resources into recruiting walk ons. It will take a few recruiting cycles for it to fully bear fruit

Good to hear. No argument over going for a scholarship elsewhere.

Nebraska barely scraped out a win at home last weekend against a team playing without their starting quarterback. Scott Frost's Huskers have only won an away game once. Nebraska's freshman Center is getting beat up and manhandled by every team we are playing to the point that he is hiking the ball bad every other play. Add on the bad Center to a new starting quarterback and how many turnovers does that equal? It goes on and on and that is why I'm betting on Minnesota to win by more then 7 1/2 points.

Minnesota 31 Nebraska 19

I would agree that MN is likely to win, but not by more than a touchdown.

Huskers don’t have to win this game, but it would be a nice win. If they can establish some sort of a running game and not turn the ball over I think they can put themselves in a position to win. As all of Minnesota’s wins have been against average at best opponents. I’m really interested in how Vedral plays. He looked very capable in the little bit he played against Northwestern. It would be fantastic if Nebraska has a solid backup QB. Wish we could say that about the center position.

I'm expecting a close matchup with Minnesota, too. Minnesota may be 5-0, but they're not even ranked. So if Nebraska wins, they won't pull off a huge upset.

The elements are something to consider too..

A night game in Minnesota with the chance of snow and freezing rain.. I expect a low scoring type game.. This may work in the Huskers favor actually...

It could help the defense for sure, but I feel it would be bad for the team as a whole. And it definitely won't help the Huskers' speed run game (Wandale Robinson). If the Huskers will win in that kind of weather, it will come down to the ability of the offensive line, Dedrick Mills power run, and the quarterback run game; and I'm saying that with no idea how good Minnesota's interior D is. If this comes down to a kicking game, I don't like the Huksers' odds. Positive note is Minnesota doesn't look very good either. Since I don't know much about Minnesota, I'll say their numbers look good, but their wins haven't been good against not-good teams.

That said, I also think the weather will cause a pretty low scoring game, lower than I'd thought if the weather was good. I think if it comes down to kicking, I think odds are the Huskers are on the losing end of a 9-3 type game. BUT, I think it won't come down to that. I think each team will score two touchdowns in regulation and the final score will hinge on the ability of the Huskers to score a TD in over time.

It will be either 21-14(or 17) Husker win, or a 17-14 Husker loss. Its very hard to make an actual prediction. My gut leans toward the Huskers losing this one 17-14. But since its such a toss-up in my gut, I will officially go with the homer pick and say Huskers win 21-17.

p.s. I got the error message about 80% of the time trying to post this.

I’m not sure the weather will be as bad a detriment for the team as you’d think. Sure, it’ll affect the Huskers already poor FG kicking carousel.. But it could act as a great equalizer.. Keeping the score low and the game close..

We’ll see...

I can't say for sure yet but I think the season imploded last week. I think the best part of this season is behind us. We might of beat Northwestern last week but all in all it was as ugly as ugly could get. In the newspaper yesterday Athletic Director Moos sure sounded like he was prepping the Husker fans for rough days ahead. Moos was saying a 6 win season would be a good mile post for the Huskers to reach this year. Considering that we have 4 wins already and there are 6 games left that is not all that encouraging. It looked like Frost was not in a happy place all week as well in the interviews. Moos and Frost may have sold the state of Nebraska on the idea that they know what they are doing but down on the field I don't think the players are buying into it near as much. I think Frost and Moos better know what they are doing because if this keeps looking like it has the past 2 years they are going to find that the fans are not as gullible and naive as they had hoped for. I kind of had been wondering if I was the only fan that had been watching these Husker games this year thinking some of those players are so ridiculously out of shape that they could not out run me. Sure enough I was watching the NE vs Ohio St game at someones house and a conversation broke out between some women about how out of shape some of the Nebraska players obviously are. All the hype about how much Frost has beefed up and conditioned this team does not hold water. It is obvious some of the players are as out of shape as we have ever seen Nebraska players. All in all its looking to be a rough first 2 years for Frost and as bad as this team is there in no way on earth year 3 is going to look to pretty either. Like another poster said the other day, go up in the stands and get a big boy and have him play center for petes sakes. I digress.

If it will happen that way, I bet the Huskers will be down most of the game. Maybe the Huskers would be down 7-3 in the first, 10-3 at the half. Then tie it up 10-10 in the third, go down 13-10, then score a touchdown late in the fourth.

I like that outcome, another nail biter. I think if the Huskers are to score a field goal, it will be at a certain point where it doesn't mean much to the crowd. A low pressure situation. I think a touchdown would have to win it.

Minnesotans are no strangers to cold and snow. They're further north of Nebraska so they're more likely to have frigid temperatures up there.

Ok, I can now say without the slightest bit of doubt that yes Nebraska did implode last week against Northwestern. This Nebraska team was DONE for the season after the disaster that was the Northwestern game we just were able to overlook it because of the win. Like john Madden used to say nothing takes the stink off a bad team like a win. This week there will be no win to mask the foul play of the Huskers.

Still need to find two more wins. Don’t think it will be against Wisconsin or Iowa. The Indiana game is going to be huge huge for the Huskers. Then they will have to beat Purdue or Maryland on the road.

I think after tonight’s debacle, at this point, NU has a better chance of losing out than winning 2 more games to become bowl eligible..

This team was poorly prepared, got punched in the mouth and wanted nothing to do with punching back. A complete and total poop sandwich fed to the Nebraska fan base. Absolutely pathetic and embarrassing...

Well, if it makes anybody feel better, but it probably won't, Michigan State had a worse day than Nebraska did. They got shut out by Wisconsin 38-0. They're pretty much out of the Big Ten East race.

This was one of the worst losses in recent Husker memory (and by default, worst in Husker history)

56-14 loss to unranked Iowa 2017
54-21 loss to unranked Minnesota 2017
40-10 loss to unranked Iowa 2016
-------------And now------------------
34-7 loss to unranked Minnesota

And the game wasn't even as close as the score suggests, as I'm sure we all know.

Just one of the most heartless performances I have ever seen. At least all the other blowouts have been to pretty highly ranked opponents.

I too have a hard time checking off two more wins after what I saw tonight. Just terrible.

And the most sickening part of all of these recent blowouts is they practically all came on the back of the run defense. The run defense has been stunk upon in so many blowouts since joining the Big Ten.

The money, the lack of Texas, the improved academic relationships, the improved women’s sports, the chance for Mav Hockey fans to worry about UN-L starting D1 hockey every few years. The list goes on /s

Nebraska is not about to start a hockey program anytime soon. And if the Big Ten is so loaded with money, then why can't Wisconsin restore their baseball program?

Mckenzie Milton made two coaching staffs look better than they really are.

I honestly just feel bad for Nebraska fans, again, this year. So much sunshine pumped up their butts from the local media and then bam, this garbage on the field yet again. Wonder when people will catch on finally and stop believing it.

Scott Blake.. I mean Frost, needs to rethink himself and his approach before he can even come close to being successful in the Big 10. That offensive and defensive line play are some of the worst I have watched in college football. Not to mention the failures in mental preparation.

The good news is I confidently bet on Minnesota and they easily won. The bad news is I only placed a token bet of $20 so I only won $18.20

I have beat the Casino 6 out of the 7 Nebraska football games. So far I have cashed a win ticket every week but one. Win or loose I would of had fun. I don't think it has set in yet that I can now go legally bet on every Nebraska game. Nebraska basketball starts in a month and I think that is going to be a lot of fun to bet too.

I certainly didn't buy into the preseason media hype. I knew all along Nebraska wasn't going to win the Big Ten west, but I just didn't expect them to be punched in the mouth like they were last night.

The truth is Scott Frost inherited a mess from Mike Riley. That can't be fixed overnight. It takes time and sadly many Husker fans are so impatient. They want success and they want it now.

That said I believe that Indiana, Purdue and Maryland are winnable games. Wisconsin, no way. Iowa is still a tossup for me. This is not going to be another 4-8 year.

It will be a tall task for the team to win 2/3 to get to 6 wins.

According to ESPN, the Huskers are favored in only one remaining game, barely, vs Indiana. And to be honest, I don't feel that confident about that one.

It has been painful to watch, but I will be completely happy with 6 wins at this point. That loss at Colorado is really starting to matter a lot more than it seemed at that time.

Where do you think Nebraska would be if:

-Steve Pederson was never hired as athletic director
-Frank Solich was never fired as head coach
-Bill Callahan was never hired
-Nebraska never left the Big 12 for the Big Ten
?

I don't really know. I guess we never will. But 8 years in the Big Ten and it still doesn't feel like the right fit. At least for me.

I liked the Big 8, but adding in the Texas teams was the end. The Big10 isn’t perfect, but it is about more than football. The research connections have helped get UNMC going as well as UN-L. For me, I am good with the Big10.

I think it's going to take Frost 5 years to get this team relevant again. And by that I just mean good, not great. But honestly, we are a landlocked school that has shot itself in the foot a few times since the glory days. He should get plenty of time to rebuild and if we can put up with Riley for 4 years, we can give Frost more than that.

To clarify, Riley only coached at Nebraska for three years. 15-17. Now we paid him for more than that, but only three years on the sideline.

Frost will get the time he needs.

Frost will get more time from the fans but I think hes just about out of time with this group of players. I think he lost this team over the past 3 weeks. Nobody on this team is having fun no more including Frost and his coaches. They will start pruning the branches before they cut down the tree. How many more years will the fans tolerate a 3rd rate defense that any team that wants to can consistently run up and down the field? If year 3 goes as bad as this year is....and it will.....an assistant coach will be on the hot seat by year 4.

Agreed.. I do think he’ll need to look long and hard at his coaching staff..and schemes on both sides of the ball..

But Frost signed a 7 year contract. He will be here for the entire 7 years...

The assistant coaches are on the firing line this year. If NU is not crazy, they will keep Frost for the whole 7 years so they don’t have another buyout to pay for. The fans need to just vote with their money. No gear no traveling, no donations, till things show consistent improvement. Next year, they are an easy 6/6 and have no blow outs, and surprise one big name team with a possible upset.

Do this, and we think Frost has it, don’t and we just stop investing ourselves.
