If they can pull off that win, they deserve it. College basketball is crazy this year. There really aren't any super dominant teams.

If Creighton can pull off a win this Saturday morning/afternoon in Philadelphia, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Jays vault solidly into the top 15 in both polls...

Way too big of a jump

I don’t know about that. They’re sitting just outside the top 25 now and have some quality Q1 wins. If they were to defeat a top 10 ranked team on the road, I wouldn’t say that’s too big of a jump..At least to #15..

But that’s me. Likely the Jays will lose that one anyway as Jay Wright and Villanova seem to have CU’s number. We’ll see...

Basketball rankings can be volatile sometimes due to the number of games per week when applicable. A jump to #15 would be pretty large, but a 18-19 I could see.

I'm less concerned about the polls and more concerned about the NET or RPI rankings anyways.

He took an elbow to the jaw/cheek area and had a bloody nose. Hopefully nothing serious, but they didn't know during the game. Anymore, they take every blow to the head very seriously.

What a great all around team win. Tyshon carried the team in the first half and Ballock and Mahoney took over in the 2nd. But Z and Kelvin Jones along with Jefferson all had some great moments as well.

If Creighton isn't in the Top 20 on Monday, that is terrible.

By the way, the officiating was horrible today (at one point Creighton had 14 fouls and Nova only 4) The funny thing is, that actually worked against them since they only had 2 fouls in the 2nd half when they were trying to get the 7 to get to the bonus.

The Jays will easily be in the top 20. But as I’ve said since last week, they defeat a top 10 team on the road, then enhance that by plastering them by 15 points on their home court.. Then considering how Iowa has been completely overrated this season within the polls..

I’d say it’s terrible if Creighton isn’t ranked at least 15th.. But that’s me..

I get that RPI etc is more important; but I think it would also be nice to see CU ranked fairly with the pollsters as well...

Rankings aside, I can't say enough about how much Creighton's defense has improved. Outside of SDSU (which is undefeated) and Georgetown, I think the defense has been a large reason for the success this year. Kinda curious to see how much improvement there has been in defensive efficiency ratings from last year to this one.

That is great to see...hopefully the polls tomorrow will reflect that. One of the other best things they have going for them is no bad losses. Georgetown is their worst loss and that was on the road to a team that is pretty good.

Iowa has lost to DePaul by 15 and Nebraska. There is no way they should be ranked inside the top 20.

This week: at Providence (Wednesday), vs. St. John's (Saturday)

It has been a season defined by streakiness for the Bluejays. After starting 4-2, they rattled off eight straight wins. They then lost three of their next four to drop below .500 in the Big East. Since then, they've won four in a row -- including Saturday's road victory at Villanova. Greg McDermott's group is one of the elite offensive teams in America, and the best in the Big East. And their résumé is starting to resemble their recent effectiveness. The Bluejays are top-15 in the NET, own six Quadrant 1 wins and nine Quadrant 1 + 2 wins. There's not a loss outside Quadrant 1. Denzel Mahoney has provided a huge scoring boost off the bench since becoming eligible in mid-December. He has hit double-figures in all but two games and scored 21 against Villanova.

I thought for sure they would be a top 20 team...this is why the polls are so dumb. Creighton has multiple great wins and really no bad losses, yet a team like Iowa has 1 bad loss and a horrible loss @ Nebraska and a worse record than Creighton. Sure they play in the Big 10, but the Big East is a much stronger conference as is shown in the non-conference records.

I feel the same way for CU’s matchup tomorrow evening with Providence. The Friars are looking for some “street cred” with a home win vs a ranked team.. For Creighton, to continue to turn that corner, they need to handle their business with a road win here.. No letdowns in intensity and defensive performance after locking down Villanova Saturday afternoon..

Pathetic performance by the Jays in the 2nd half.. getting outscored 41-20 and getting blown out 73-56 by Providence. The Friars went to a 1-3-1 zone with about 12 or so minutes left in the 2nd, and CU never figured it out..Poor shooting by their top 2 scorers and poor defense- allowing Providence to light them up from everywhere..

Oh well, say goodbye to the top 25...

Worst half of the year tonight. Terrible to see the effort as well. Mahoney went missing and Z couldn't hit a shot.

At least it wasn't as bad as Iowa's night....they gave up 19 3's and lost by 36 @ Purdue. (104-68)

I wonder if the Jays retain a top 25 ranking after their 1-1 split this week..
