Driving by there yesterday on the way to work. That top to bottom opening that you can see in Brad's pic is still there (on West side facing Highway 50), it does look like 4 floors when drive by. This is based on how the lights are on the inside when you drive by. They seem to be always on.

Re: Amazon fulfillment center - Papillion
The Lincoln Journal Star article quoted in this thread when it was started- from 10/27/20- Stated the center “will open sometime next year”.. So presumably, sometime later this year..
Perhaps someone has additional intel on this he/she could share…

I know a guy who is working there for the major electrical contractor. He tells me he will be there until Late Spet / Early October. That will not mean it is done but it does hint at a late in the year opening

This is a interesting story on last Sunday’s CBS Sunday Morning about robots used in Amazon Fulfillment Centers

How do these buildings compare in size to the UP HQs downtown. I think that is 1.3 million sq ft.

In this article on the new center announced for CB it says this:
"The Council Bluffs facility will be the company’s seventh in Iowa. Amazon also announced Wednesday that it would build a 2.9-million-square-foot fulfillment center in Davenport.
Amazon is building a 700,000-square-foot distribution center on 94 acres in Sarpy County. The facility is to employ 1,000 full-timers, who will work alongside robots."
Is the new one in Davenport really going to be that big? That's more than 4 x's the size of the one in Sarpy.

My quick google of other news stories from yesterday and today all say the Davenport facility will be 640,000 sq ft. The closest number I could find to "2.9 million" is that the city is putting in $3.9 million in infrastructure improvements. Pretty sure this is just more shoddy OWH work.

Yep, I also found 640,000 sq ft. I wonder if it is going to be like the Papillion one and include that much space on each floor.

That would make sense. As stated earlier, poor job on this by the OWH.skinzfan23 wrote: Thu Jul 08, 2021 1:41 pm Yep, I also found 640,000 sq ft. I wonder if it is going to be like the Papillion one and include that much space on each floor.

I was wondering that too when I saw that. I didn't think there was any way they would build something much more massive there when Sarpy's is already a beast.skinzfan23 wrote: Thu Jul 08, 2021 1:41 pm Yep, I also found 640,000 sq ft. I don't know about the opening date, but I drove by last weekend and there were quite a few trailers in the loading docks.

Re: Amazon Fulfillment Center - Papillion
I keep expecting to drive by and see hundreds of cars in their parking lot, but, apparently, not yet. I suppose they have to slowly ramp up. Start receiving and stocking inventory, train staff, work the kinks out of all of their new systems, and so on. So, it's not like they were going to open on a Monday and be operating at 100% by Tuesday. Still, I do wish someone in the know would leak a recent timeline projection...

Re: Amazon fulfillment center - Papillion
Anyone know if there is an update on the Amazon Fulfillment Center on 72nd and State? The building looks like it has been completed for months, but it seems like there is never a car in the parking lot.
A source at a steel company says they were told to stand down on any current Amazon projects as Amazon is halting all construction for the time being.

Is the one on 370 operating? I drive by it daily on my way home from work and never see trucks or any sort of activity. I also haven't really heard or seen any advertising for help.

When I drove by on Tue or maybe Wed there were a few ( very fed) Amazon trucks in the back area by the docs but the Jerzy barriers were still in place in the main drive where the trucks will come in and out through security.Greg S wrote: Thu May 05, 2022 9:13 amMjs5050ss wrote: Thu May 05, 2022 8:59 am Anyone know if there is an update on the Amazon Fulfillment Center on 72nd and State? I know Amazon reported their first quarterly loss in 7 years to the tune of about $3.8B. So, perhaps they're taking a step back and pausing on a lot of stuff. Also, unemployment in Nebraska is crazy low, so coming up with 1,000 (or whatever they projected) fulfillment center employees is not going to be an easy task.

Re: Amazon Fulfillment Center - Papillion
Yeah you are spot on in that assessment I believe. I've been in HR and recruiting for more than 20 years, and when I heard they were going to hire 1k I thought it would be an incredible challenge for them, and others recruiting for similar types in the workforce. Adding pressure to an already high pressure time in recruiting. Fortunately in Omaha area I am not looking in that space. Only time close to this was very late 90's.ChadJK wrote: Thu May 05, 2022 10:02 am I know Amazon reported their first quarterly loss in 7 years to the tune of about $3.8B. This afternoon it looked like there were more cars in the parking lot than I’ve seen in the past. Still doesn’t seem like it’s very full.

I would assume once they get near opening it would be a pretty public recruiting effort. I haven't seen anything like that yet.

Anybody know what they are building south of this? Is it Amazon or something else. It's directly south of Amazon on 370 and they are moving a bunch of dirt.
