Breaking: Nebraska gets commitment from in-state OT Mason Goldman

Gretna (Neb.) offensive tackle Mason Goldman has given a commitment to Nebraska. The visit comes following Goldman‘s official visit with the Huskers this weekend. He had also attended a recruiting event at Nebraska the weekend before and offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield had also been by the school shortly after he took over at Nebraska. Mickey Joseph had extended an offer to Goldman when he was the Huskers' interim coach. He said at the time that it was a meaningful offer because he grew up watching the Huskers.

Wager has been at Arlington Martin since 2006 and his teams have never missed the playoffs. This past season, Arlington Martin went 10-2.

Nebraska picks up its third transfer from Florida this off-season. Former four-star edge Chief Borders committed to the Huskers on Tuesday. Borders is ranked as the No. 40 edge transfer in the portal, and Borders will join safety Corey Collier and long-snapper Marco Ortiz in Lincoln, who are also from Florida. The 6-foot-5, 242-pound edge is from Chicago, Illinois, and has three years of eligibility remaining. Borders played in four games during his true freshman year in 2021, then redshirted.

Erik Chinander Joins Boise State Staff

BOISE, Idaho – Two-time Broyles Award nominee Erik Chinander has been named the defensive line coach and defensive run game coordinator at Boise State, head coach Andy Avalos announced, Friday. Chinander brings two decades of coaching experience, most recently at Nebraska (2018-22). He also spent time at UCF (2016-17), Oregon (2014-15 and 2010-12), the Philadelphia Eagles (2013), Northern Iowa (2004-09) and Ellsworth (Iowa) Community College (2003). He was named a top 25 recruiter by Rivals in 2021.

The Huskers continue to add some key pieces from the portal. Ben Scott is certainly a big one – 310 pounds to be exact. But it's his resume that is of larger matter than what the scale shows. The offensive lineman who comes by way of Arizona State announced Friday his intentions to join the Nebraska program, with his many logged snaps at the college level sure to make him a strong candidate to come in and start on Nebraska's front five. Having redshirted in 2019, and with the COVID eligibility freeze of 2020, he still has two years to play two. Scott told Husker247 the plan is to work at center. He'll begin classes in January.

Four-star WR Omarion Miller commits to Colorado on Christmas Eve
Vivian (La.) North Caddo four-star receiver Omarion Miller celebrated Christmas Eve on Saturday night by announcing his commitment to Deion Sanders and Colorado. He is one fo the more prolific pass catchers in the 2-23 class.
Miller is a former Nebraska commit who also had offers from the likes of Arkansas, LSU, Miami and Mississippi State. Colorado's Director of Player Personnel Corey Phillips led the charge in courting Miller to the Pac 12 program.

The Nebraska staff is still adding recruits to the 2023 class. Ethan Nation from Roswell (Ga.) took an official visit to Nebraska in December and left impressed. Who are the new players who will impact the football program this fall?

As we all know, the early signing date for high school football recruits was less than a month ago. For new Husker head football coach Matt Rhule, the early signing date (12/21) was just three weeks into his Husker stint. In that time, Rhule and his then yet-to-be-completed coaching staff somehow put together a Top 30 (Rivals.com) class. We'll take a look at some of the players who have a chance to make a difference this fall.

Transfer portal players

This year's Husker transfers all come from Power Five programs (Kai Wallin came from a JUCO). They have proven track records of performance. Experience at that level of play usually translates into significant playing time and positive results at their new schools. The players aren't listed in any particular order.
