Yeah Nebraska is definitely good for their bottom line. There will be a ton of focus for this year's game with Rhule being at NU, but even more so with them now having Coach "Prime."

What's interesting is it's there. We most recently played there. They do make a trip to Lincoln in 2024, and played here in 2018.

I will say I do really like playing our old Big 12 foes as much as possible, in all sports.

Jeremy Pernell: Three Hires in the Head-Scratcher Category
But history has shown that new Nebraska football coach Matt Rhule is no slouch at selecting collegiate assistants

Yesterday I summarized the job that new Nebraska football coach Matt Rhule has done so far and did an overview of his coaching beliefs. If reading it gave you a Kool-Aid mustache, that's understandable. Like I admitted yesterday, I love the hire for Nebraska.

I'll get my concerns out of the way first.
- Keeping Dominic Raiola on staff went over like a lead balloon with the majority of fans.
- I think it also helped having Satterfield go to bat for him.
- Another hire that took me back a bit was Garret McGuire coaching the receivers.

College football coach rankings: Matt Rhule, Deion Sanders headline best hires for 2022-23 cycle

We ranked the 10 best FBS hires from this cycle, which are seen below.

1. MATT RHULE, NEBRASKA
One of college football's most storied programs needed to hire a proven winner at the collegiate level in order to escape the rut it's found itself in for the past half-decade, and Nebraska did just that in hiring Rhule. While things didn't work out in the NFL, Rhule oversaw quick and inspiring turnarounds at both Temple and Baylor. Two seasons removed from a 2-10 finish in his first year at Temple in 2013, the Owls were a 10-win team by 2015, and they did it again in 2016. At Baylor, the Bears went from 1-11 in Rhule's debut season in 2017 to 11 wins with Big 12 title game and Sugar Bowl appearances in 2019. If those coaching jobs are indicative of what's to come in Lincoln, the Huskers might just be back on the rise to prominence.

2. DEION SANDERS, COLORAD
3. LUKE FICKELL, WISCONSIN
4. JAMEY CHADWELL, LIBERTY
5. HUGH FREEZE, AUBURN
6. JEFF BROHM, LOUISVILLE
7. KENNY DILLINGHAM, ARIZONA STATE
8. TOM HERMAN, FLORIDA ATLANTIC
9. G.J. KINNE, TEXAS STATE
10. ALEX GOLESH, USF

MJ Sherman commits to Nebraska Football and Matt Rhule I Georgia transfer to NU I HuskerOnline

Former five-star edge rusher MJ Sherman commits to Nebraska

Former five-star Georgia edge rusher MJ Sherman has committed to Nebraska. Sherman’s sister Raisa Sherman-Blue confirmed to HuskerOnline that he took an official visit to Lincoln this weekend and committed to the Huskers as it ended on Monday. “(The visit) was a refreshing and enlightening experience,” Raisa Sherman-Blue, the sister of MJ Sherman, told HuskerOnline on Monday. “Coach (Matt Rhule) is good people. Love his energy.” The 6-foot-2, 250-pound Sherman played in 28 games in the last two years. He could start and be a difference maker about anywhere he went, according to a Georgia expert. The Bulldogs are stockpiled with talent right now at that position.

Sherman is now the ninth transfer the Huskers have added and the 32nd scholarship player overall. Classes at NU begin on Jan. 23.

Former Panthers head coach Matt Rhule filed arbitration suit last week against franchise
The suit claims the team is refusing to pay Rhule's severance compensation following his firing from Carolina

Former Carolina Panthers head coach Matt Rhule filed an arbitration suit last week against the franchise, sources tell CBS Sports. The suit claims the Panthers are refusing to pay Rhule's severance compensation following his firing from Carolina and subsequent hiring at the University of Nebraska.

In the suit, which was filed with the NFL on Jan. 25, Rhule seeks to receive the offset money he claims is due to him from the Panthers. According to sources, the suit doesn't allege specifically how much money Rhule is seeking, but contract terms indicate there's roughly $5 million in dispute.

Buschini averaged 44 yards per punt last season and had 14 punts inside the opponent's 20 yard line.

Husker legacy announces intention to walk on at Nebraska

A 2023 prospect with a familiar last name will walk-on at Nebraska, he announced Wednesday night. Elkhorn Mount Michael defensive end Conor Connealy announced on social media that he plans to follow in his father’s footsteps and join the Huskers. “I’m honored to have accepted an offer to play football for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln as a Preferred Walk-On! I’d like to give a special thanks to everyone who has helped put me in this position,” he wrote announcing the decision on social media.

Conor’s father Terry Connealy was was a co-captain on Nebraska’s 1994 national title team, finishing with 42 tackles (13 solo) and had 13 quarterback hurries as a senior en route to earning second-team All-Big Eight honors. The younger Connealy played defensive end and tackle at Mount Michael while serving as a two-time team captain. The 6-foot-3, 220-pounder also plays basketball. Connealy is the latest in-state prospect to join Nebraska’s walk-on class, which has been smaller than in past years. Nebraska announced four walk-ons during the signing period in December. One of those walk-ons, Gretna linebacker Korver Demma, is already enrolled at Nebraska.
