  • Platteview Road Expressway – 72nd to 99th - expressway
  • Platteview Road Expressway – US-75 to 57th - expressway
More details about each project[/list]
In the linked PDF, they even say that interchanges will be built at 27th and 36th Sts. So is this freeway really starting to happen?
It is indeed. Here's a link to lots of info about the planned design between US75 and 108th Street.

Sarpy Co has also began the preliminary design phase for 108th to US50 (144th)

Does this suddenly seem accelerated to anyone else? If so, is it because of infrastructure bill money or something?

The South Sarpy sewer project seems to be the thing that may be speeding it up. That Board already signed a contract for the first phase of the sewer infrastructure and part of that was acquiring the easements for the new forced main from Springfield to the Omaha treatment plant south of Bellevue. The Sewer Agency Board coordinated with the County to make sure the easements were in what would be the future right-of-way for the new Platteview Road corridor.

So appears the Sewer Agency Board is coordinating closely with the County so investment in one project can be leveraged by the other project.

Gretna, Papillion and the County are also in the study (I think with MAPA) for the new 192nd/Capehart I-80 Interchange. The profile of the Platteview Corridor intersects at that new I80 interchange - so that may be causing it to accelerate as well.

Not exactly, they still don't have sewer capacity.
The South Sarpy Sewer Agency is already laying pipe in what they show as the Phase 1 development zone and seem to have acquired all the easements from Springfield to the Missouri River for the forced main.

if I am not mistaken, the City of Omaha entered into an interlocal agreement with Sarpy County to allow Sarpy County sewage to feed into the City of Omaha's Papillion Creek wastewater facility last fall. This was done with very little public comment, but will open up development one the infrastructure is put in place.
Ture, but wasn't it a 2 decade long project?
Also true. Yeah, it is a mulitdecade hundreds of million dollar project.
They are laying pipe now.

We really need North-South western expressway. Too bad highway 6/31 is too far gone.

Sarpy County officials say Platteview Road project is progressing

PAPILLION, Neb. (WOWT) - Traveling along Sarpy County’s two-lane Platteview Road in inclement weather can be a little scary. There are plans to expand the two lanes to four -- but that work will have to be done bit by bit. “The first area we’re looking at goes from Highway 75 to 108th Street,” said Don Kelly with the Sarpy County Board of Commissioners. “The second section will go from 108th to Highway 50 to Springfield, and the last section will go from Highway 50 and connect to Interstate 80 at some point.” Kelly says the road project has to happen, but he says the county will need help from the state and federal level to deal with the out-of-sight price tag.

Is Don Kelly the guy to blame for the red light timing on highway 370?
He also makes it sounds like Sarpy county is some rural place that has no income and can't afford to take care of their infrastructure.

Google Maps and Waze shows that 192nd St is faster than Highway 6 (204th Street) from Dodge to Harrison. This stretch has turned into a painful parking lot. In January 2007 there were 4 lights from Dodge to Hwy 370 in Gretna. There currently are 15 with Giles coming shortly and 10x the usage.

New lights
Elkhorn South - 2012/2013
West Center (North) - 2007/2010
West Center (South) - 2007/2010
Casey's - 2020
George B Lake - 2017/2020
F Street - 2020
North of Q Street - 2023 (Pending)
South of Q Street - 2023 (Pending)
George B Lake (ACI) - 2022
Harrison Street - 2013
Lincoln Street - 2022

Coming Soon
Giles - 2024

I drive this route occasionally, and what I can't figure out is where the people are coming from and going to.

204th used to be my quick way out of town to Lincoln from West O. Sadly that has changed very quickly in the last ten years.

You might want to try 92/77 depending on where you live. From Lanoha in Omaha to north Lincoln there's like 3 traffic lights.
