Pretty disappointing that the reporter kept referring to Dave Pantos as "Planos". The reporter repeatedly mispronounced his name and the crawl at the bottom of the screen had his name misspelled. How could they have not noticed the error? In the bottom left corner of the screen, his name is right there for everyone to see from the Zoom meeting! Plus, he ran against Don Kleine for county attorney less than 2 months ago.

The local media is garbage. 3, 6 and 7 are bad, 42 is terrible, and the World Herald is worthless. If it doesn't come from the Nebraska Examiner or Flatwater Free Press, its not worth your time.

The graveyard shift cashier at Doctor John's has more integrity--and common sense--than the 'jOuRnAlIsTs' in local media.

Broadcasting is mostly a dying profession. Journalism and broadcasting degrees keep getting churned out by liberal arts colleges and unscrupulous counselors who sell students a bill of goods only to find out that taking a job in local media pretty much dooms you to a life of living in your parents basement on poverty wages while working long hours, night/weekends/holidays, etc.

I honestly don't really even blame the people in these roles for shoddy sub standard work anymore. They aren't making anything. I was one that didn't know what I wanted to do in college and made the mistake of majoring in broadcasting. I was never in local news, more live event production, but myself and every person I know that started in the industry is now out of it and working in corporate 9-5 jobs.

It's an industry for suckers at this point. The major news conglomerates that own nearly all local news organizations put no money or budget into it. Why should some poor schlep making $40k a year to be3 a reporter care about any of it either? You can literally make more money answering telephones than working in local news unless you're a top anchor. The only thing it provides is a life lesson in making better choices.

TV meteorologists have it worse--they get to do at least six years to get a Master's in broadcast meteorology--not meteorology, mind you--broadcast meteorology. Big difference. And look at the local news--for all the bux they invested in that sheepskin, they're doing traffic reports!

I'm sure there are more, but I know of only one TV meteorologist who escaped the limelight of TV news and actually applied their degree to work in hard science--Holly McCarthy, late of Channel Seven, who is a researcher at the Storm Prediction Center in Norman.

Oh yes. That's a lot of schooling to spend your evenings standing out in the snow in a company branded parka saying things like, "it's really coming down now out here! We are seeing cars sliding down the roads!" Or, in a studio rolling up your sleeves and saying we might get between a dusting and a foot of snow. lol.

Curious to hear if there has been any update on this complex. Is everything being left vacant while legal proceedings/insurance claims take place?

Will everything have to be bulldozed, or are the buildings still in good enough shape that they can be repaired by a better management group?

It just seems like a prime location that someone would want to develop, but I haven't heard anything since December.

Omaha crews respond to fire at vacant Legacy Crossing apartments

Smoke from a fire at a vacant Omaha apartment complex could be seen Monday afternoon. Crews were responding to the blaze at the Legacy Crossing Apartments near 105th and Fort streets. The call came in from property maintenance at 1:30 p.m. A second alarm was called about 15 minutes later with a third alarm declared for manpower at about 2:45 p.m.

The fire was largely contained to the north side of the building because of a firewall. Smoke and flames were visible on approach on the first two floors before spreading to the third a short time later. Firefighters eventually pulled out and attacked defensively when flames were reportedly going through the roof. Natural gas had already been shut off since the complex was vacated. Officials with OPPD are working to get power to the building shut off as well. Omaha Fire says 70 firefighters are on scene as of 3:45 p.m. It’s not yet clear what started the fire. The apartment complex has been vacant since December 2022 due to severe code violations.

Omaha fire crews respond to three alarm fire at abandoned Legacy Crossing Apartments



The Omaha Fire Department is currently working to put out a major fire at the vacant Legacy Crossing Apartments. Crews have been working on the fire since about 1:30 p.m. when the property manager called it in. OFD says that the fire started on the first and second levels and that part of one of the buildings has collapsed. The apartment complex has been vacant since December due to multiple code violations.

OFD says that 70 fire fighters are working on the fire and that two of them have suffered minor injuries. The gas to the apartment complex has been shut off since the vacancy and OPPD is currently working to shut off electricity to the complex. The cause of the fire is currently unknown and is under investigation by OFD. This is a developing story and KPTM will update this article as more facts are gathered from the Omaha Fire Department.
