Why on earth would you say that? That ship done sailed years ago. I suspect 90% of food and beverage purchases in the US are cashless as it is. It’s simply easier for both the business as well as the customer. And how many of us have suffered through a transaction where the clerk was simply dumbfounded as to how much change to give back to the customer who paid in old fashioned cash? I suspect 99% of the readers here have experienced that repeatedly.
From my travel experience I have noted that shops in airports have gone cashless in recent years. Yes it seems a bit odd to buy a newspaper or bottle of water with a card, but It just makes everything more painless.
And, for those somehow caught by surprise by the policy, you can purchase a debit card at the stadium with your cash.

Good point on the cashless policy. Cashless doesn't really bother me nor does getting the tickets via phone. What surprised me more than anything was the jump in ticket prices and how apparently there really is no more GA. FWIW, yep Tuna...I am sure that stadium expansion will most likely be brought to the table when the current contract expires but probably not before.

In the first of two elimination games today, TCU sends Oral Roberts packing 6-1. The Horned Frogs took control behind a monster fifth innings where they scored four of the six runs. TCU held on to that control despite a spirited late comeback attempt as the Golden Eagles loaded the bases with two outs in the ninth.

Tennessee 0

The Men’s College World Series semifinals are set as LSU finished off Tennessee 5-0. The Tigers led by a couple of runs for most of the game. Then, for good measure, Dylan Crews crushed a two-run homer in the ninth.

We went to the 1 pm game on Monday, and yes, it was hot. It was pretty active all around, and the atmosphere was great. LSU fans were everywhere (they played at 6 pm) and seemed like everyone was enjoying themselves. We spent maybe 120 on 4 tickets, sat in section 323 (upper deck). You'd think the seats were junk based on the map, but they were great (I still maintain there isn't a bad seat in the park). We had hotdogs, nachos, and about 10 waters, spent maybe a hundred on food? Parking at a meter on the other side of The Yard was 30 bucks for 12 hours so not cheap but put us right where we needed to be. Yes, it is more expensive than it used to be. But we had defined seats, there was a ton to do at the fan experience, and had a really great time. The whole event definitely seems more professional (for lack of better terms) than did Rosenblatt....even though shaded seating seemed a little easier to come by there. I miss the days of buying books of tickets, too, but if you are ahead of the game, you can still get cheap seats just like the old days- the only reason mine were more is because I waited longer to pull the trigger and had to get them from a 3rd party site. Otherwise, it wouldn't have been much different than at the Blatt. The main thing was that my 13 y/o, 11 y/o, and 6 y/o had a blast with their old man, and will probably go again next year.

I don't remember, but my guess would be a second tier in the outfield. Wherever it's supposed to be, i do remember hearing that all the foundation work, supports, ect were put in as part of the initial construction so expansion would be easier.

Looking at the attendance numbers this year and the fact that every game is sold out....I wonder when/if they will look at expanding anytime in the near future. The tough thing is, the park is only going to used for 2 weeks each year.

Florida escaped TCU 3-2 in the Men's College World Series to clinch the fourth MCWS finals berth in Gator program history. The Gators took the lead in the top of the ninth with a base hit after the Horned Frogs tied it up in the eighth.

I doubt an expansion is being considered at this point and they would surely need a massive extension on the deal to host from the NCAA to do any sort of major project.

I would assume they would run the upper deck from the third base line around and over the left field concourse is where its designed to expand.

I do think if they ever do a major expansion/renovation I think I'd like to see them basically take the entire outfield down and rework it so the walls are closer in. Maybe an easier way to get a few more seats without a massive construction project, pull the walls in a row or two. Get a few hundred more seats out in the outfield and help the park not be such a graveyard for home runs. I'd be fine with letting the opportunity for a minor league football team die.

I still think putting some simple seating or even standing room only type deck on top of the concessions in left field would be cool too.

5) LSU 5

The Tigers live to see another day. LSU thwarted Wake Forest from advancing to the Men’s College World Series finals beating the Demon Deacons 5-2. LSU did most of the scoring in the third inning by putting four runs on the board. Cade Beloso led the way with a home run, three RBI and two walks on the night. Pitcher Griffin Herring got the win after pitching 4.2 innings and recording six strikeouts.

These two top-tier programs will meet for a third time in the Men’s College World Series. Wake Forest got the first win, LSU caught them tonight, and tomorrow’s matchup will determine who meets Florida in the MCWS finals. The action gets started tomorrow, June 21 at 7 p.m. ET.

This certainly has the most benefits to the game and atmosphere.

I think if they expand the stadium it will take several years like this one to get some real interest in it. For timing I don't think it will start before the stadium is paid off and will coincide with the next contract with the NCAA.

At Rosenblatt the stadium upgrades and expansion always coincided with the NCAA extending their contract or a new contract. The expansion will be quite expensive so I don't see any big money being spent until the stadium is paid for then in turn you use that some formula to pay for the expansion.

LSU walks off against Wake Forest advancing to MCWS finals

It took 11 innings, but LSU has done it. Tigers star Tommy White stepped up to the plate and crushed a solo walk-off homer. LSU beats No. 1 Wake Forest 1-0, and advances to the Men’s College World Series finals. A pitching clinic from starters to the bullpen pushed this semifinals matchup into extra innings. The Tigers posted five hits while the Demon Deacons posted just three. Paul Skenes pitched eight innings for LSU and recorded nine strikeouts. Before the 11th inning, the last hit was in the fifth. LSU came out of the losers’ bracket all the way to the finals. Wake Forest beat the Tigers, but in the next two matchups, LSU caught them.

Now, LSU will face Florida in an all-SEC MCWS finals on Saturday, June 24 at 7 p.m. ET.

that was a heck of a game if I've ever seen one. I made sure my kid knew how freakin amazing the pitching was because it wasn't all home runs and RBI's which tends to be a little more boring to a lot of people.

That's one of the better games of baseball I've seen in a good long while at any level.

I know its crazy that outdoor venues are rarely used, especially for the amount of money needed to build and renovate them. Just be thankful we don't have pro sports and have to spend the amt of money that they require for stadium upgrades.

I think it's 8. That's typically how many home games there are in a season while 4 games are played on the road.

I think today’s score is reflective of the change they made to the dates of the event. When consolidating the event to get game 1 of the championship on a Saturday, it puts extra strain on the pitching staffs. Especially if you qualify for the championship by having to play 5 games before it started.

That might be part of the equation but I think the wind was the biggest factor. The wind was out of the northwest which is a little abnormal this time of year and there were at least 2 home runs that normally would have been foul or outs any other day that lead to 5 runs to blow the game open.

Florida sets College World Series record for runs with 24-4 win over LSU to force deciding Game 3

Florida had been involved in more close games than any other team at the College World Series this year. That changed in a big way Sunday, when the Gators unleashed an offensive barrage of historic proportions. Florida scored the most runs in a CWS game and came up one short of the record for largest margin of victory in a 24-4 rout of LSU that forced a deciding Game 3 of the finals.

Florida's 24 runs broke Notre Dame's CWS record, set in a 23-2 win over Northern Colorado in 1957. The 20-run win over the Tigers ranks second to that game for largest margin. The Gators hadn't scored so many runs since a 28-5 win over Winthrop on March 3, 2019. LSU hadn't given up so many in any of its 245 NCAA Tournament games or in any game since a 28-2 loss to Alabama in 1997. The Tigers committed a season-high five errors that led to six unearned runs.

LSU's Dylan Crews named 2023 Golden Spikes Award winner

LSU’s Dylan Crews was named the 45th winner of the Golden Spikes Award today during a live presentation on ESPN. Created in 1978, the Golden Spikes Award honors the top amateur baseball player in the United States based on their athletic ability, sportsmanship, character, and overall contribution to the sport.

Crews becomes the second LSU player in program history to earn the award, joining 1989 winner Ben McDonald as the only two Tigers to win. He is the 10th winner from the Southeastern Conference (SEC), which surpasses the Pac-12 for the most all-time Golden Spikes Award winners. Prior to Crews, the most recent award winner from the SEC was Kevin Kopps (Arkansas) in 2021.

TO me it seemed that LSU was playing for Monday sooner than I would have guessed

Yeah this shortened schedule is taxing on these staffs. LSU won't say publicly but all signs post to Paul Skenes, their ace, pitching tonight on 3 days rest. Will be interesting if they start him and try to get a lead, or save him for last half of game. No one seems to think he will be able to go more than 4 or 5 innings since he just threw 120 pitches on Thursday.
